I was looking at the remaining schedule just now and I think we end the regular season 13-17 (if I have counted remaining games right). Outside of KU twice and maybe KSU at here, I don’t see many more victories.

To get to 13 wins will actually be a miracle, IMHO.

One and done in the Big 12 tourney. No NCAA invite. No NIT invite.

Rock bottom. About where Sherri came in when she was hired.

She might turn it around a bit next year, but I’m not betting on it.

Joe C. and Boren should move her into a development role at OU at the end of this season, helping to raise money, and go find a new coach.

I disagree. The Big 12 is pretty weak this year. I believe Oklahoma can end up in the top 5 of the conference. 9-9 should be the worst; 10-8 would guarantee a record of .500 going into the postseason. Would the Sooners SOS be enough to get them into the NCAA with that?

First year comparisons:
Mulkey and Dungee played in 33 games.
Simpson, Pellington, and Llanusa have played in fifteen.

Total points: (per game)
244 Dungee (7.4)
192 Pellington (12.8)
173 Llanusa (11.5)
125 Mulkey (3.8)
48 Simpson (3.2)

Rebounds: (per game)
84 Dungee (2.5)
83 Mulkey (2.5)
64 Simpson (4.3)
61 Llanusa (4.1)
37 Pellington (2.5)

Assists:
28 Pellington
26 Dungee
17 Llanusa
6 Simpson
2 Mulkey

Steals:
19 Dungee
16 Llanusa
15 Pellington
11 Mulkey
4 Simpson

It's obvious that this year's freshmen are a step up from last year and the year before.

Ugly loss but there were positives. We won the battle on the boards and we did not fold after getting down 14 with only 4 points scored in the second quarter. I think we can finish above .500 in the conference but 11-7 is probably not going to happen. We do need to step it up to finish with a winning record in the regular season.

It may come down to one or two games.

Baylor: lose one, probably the other
Texas: lost one, the other may be an option
Oklahoma State: lost on the road. Home win quite possible.
Kansas State: they beat WV in Morgantown. A split is OK. Two wins would be great. At Kansas State.
West Virginia: beat TCU in Fort Worth, barely beat Iowa State in Morgantown. When will Tynice Martin return? Will she be OK? I count on at least one of these because they are not a good team right now.
Kansas: We need to sweep them.
TCU: We need to sweep them.
Iowa State: win on the road, need a sweep.
Texas Tech: need a sweep.

I kind of count on us being 0-6 or 1-5 against Baylor, Texas, and OSU. At worst, I expect a split with WV and Kansas State. 2-2?
I expect us to sweep or go 7-1 against the bottom four. If we end up losing all to the top three, splitting with KS and WV and sweeping the bottom feeders, we will end up 10-8.

If we come together, we could end up 12-6. If not, we could go 8-10. I expect 10-8 or 11-7. Shaina and Ana have shown signs of coming into their own, on the verge of veteran (until last night with Shaina). Shaina is our leading scorer in conference play. Texas had no answer for her, and we almost came back from a large deficit.

Edit: second leading scorer. Maddie is the leading scorer in conference play. We, after losing to OSU, are still #32 in the rpi due to #3 SOS. That goes a long way. If we are 9-9 in conference play and win one conference tournament game, we will finish 15-15 with a #3 SOS. I think that makes the tournament.

Dungee and Mulkey are missed this year, they would have made our bench stronger if nothing else...

I think we can beat TCU and maybe we can get OSU at home, even still this season is pretty much headed in the wrong direction and the lack of talent on the roster has finally caought up to Sherri...

Question for people asking her to take on a new Role

Who would OU find to be a new coach?
What good coach is going to leave there current job and come to OU?
Maybe Dawn would like a new challenge since her recruiting hasn’t been good and South Carolina will probably fall to about 4 place in the SEC next year.
If anything Jan and Chad need to be replaced this off season... Pam is so so with me, she has gotten a few elite kids to take a look at OU and even visit, but she or Sherri can’t get the kids to pick OU when all is said and Done.

Any coaching change needs to start at the top. However, we should all know that is not going to happe. Also, Coale would never replace Ross. They were college roommates and best friends. If there is ever a vacancy. we all should realize she is grooming Colton for that position. Is that an upgrade? I am already looking forward to the 6 new ones and hopefully Rich coming next year.

Somewhere in the archives is a post I titled "Scary". That was after I looked at games of Baylor, Texas, OSU and West Virginia. I felt that West Virginia was still good even without Martin. Maybe wrong on that one but their inside strength will be a challenge to us. I strongly felt that the addition of transfer Fowler put OSU at another level and clearly ahead of us, that Texas was finally getting something from their talent (without Holmes at that time) and well Baylor is Baylor.

I think at best we are fifth in the conference and probably no better than 1-7 vs the top four if not 0-8.

We could go 10-0 against the bottom 5 but will probably come out 9-1 or 8-2. That puts us somewhere between 10-8 and 8-10. My best guess is 9-9. And possibly NIT but no NCAA this time. Hope I am wrong.

Sherri's teams have a history of coming together to knock off one of the top teams and then turn around and lose one against Kansas or K-State. TCU will be tough on their court. Unfortunately we have a long history of falling way behind and then making a courageous comeback only to fall short. Over the years we have been a team of going on big runs and long cold spells.

The one thing we have going for us is that all 5 starters can go off for over 20 points in any given game. Unfortunately they are very inconsistent and are just as likely to score only a few points.

The one thing where I feel we missed the boat this year was on transfers. That should have been a goal even before we lost Mulkey and Dungee. Think having Fowler instead of her going to OSU. She may be the player of the year in the conference.

There is a multitude of young coaches that would jump at the WBB job at OU. Sherri has proven that OU is a place where you can win big time and sustain it which she did for over a decade, the Sooners will pay top dollar for a quality women's coach (Patty and Sherri both make a million a year), OU's WBB facilities are outstanding with the practice facilities, new weight facilities and LNC, one of the very top athletic academic support facilities in college sports, maybe the top AD's in the country, administrative support for athletics second to none in the country, a proven fan base that will support a winner of championships and a progressive upscale university community twenty minutes from a major metropolitan area.

Nothing is lacking for the right person willing to make the right effort to field a championship caliber WBB team in time. I don't really keep up with the top coaches at smaller schools but did check on about ten of the top power 5 conference coaching positions not named UConn, N.D, Stanford, Duke and Maryland and salary ranges were $450,000 to $850,000. For example ASU's Charli Turner Thorne makes about $450K.

It is almost a guarantee that a coach like SMU's Travis Mays would turn cartwheels all the way from Dallas to Norman if offered a five year $500,000 contract. Probably another half dozen young head coaches at smaller schools that would also be chomping at the bit to get to Norman. Offer Mississippi State's Vic Schaefer what Sherri makes instead of the $662,000 he will make at the end of his new contract that expires 2022-23 and even he might come to Norman.

Some top assistants that could be considered are UConn' Shea Ralph, Notre Dame's Niele Ivey and Beth Cunningham, Stanford's Kate Paye and Linda La Rocque who was an OU GA.

We're bad... But I do think we will still be good. A lot of this just inexperience.

We are last in defensive points per game?? That is all communication and minutes played. You could be the least athletic team in the country and not give up points like we are giving up. That also has to do w/ no. 3 SOS, so that will gradually drop on its own, but I think it will go way down as Pellington and Ana get more minutes. If you look at our offense however, its doing quite well. Number 5 in ppg, w/ no. 3 SOS? that's actually impressive- and should gradually rise as Pellington and Ana get more minute....

We have some good players, that are learning to play together. I think they fit better than last year. It doesn't help that teams can sag off Pellington, Mandy, Nisi and pack the lane- thats the only really incurable issue I see here, enless Pellington can find a jumper before its too late. But I still see promise. Don't fold your cards yet, cause there is some talent on the floor.

I still think this team will come together and be really dangerous. I do hope the polls reward us for packing our schedule, if they don't then what is the point of women's basketball anymore? Play nobody so you can get seeded, and then have a bunch of undeserving teams getting obliterated in tournament games?? that doesn't sound like a very enticing selling point for Televised games. They will reward us, if it comes together and I think there is still a ton of potential here- again don't throw you cards in yet, be patient.

Ive stayed off the board just cause I don't want to bombard myself w/ negative view points when I still see a promising season coming. I can see how I would be wrong, but I can also see the possiblites.

Nice. We are 4-3 in our last seven, against some pretty stiff opposition:
South Florida
New Mexico
Connecticut
Texas
Iowa State
TCU
Oklahoma State

A lot of teams would be happy to be 1-6 against that. We do appear to be coming together a bit. We fought back in our three losses. Last year, we didn't do that very well.
