Remembering the greatest Oklahoma team >>> NewsOk

I seem to remember an article that said the guys took aerobics lessons in the preseason, which was a novelty at the time.

I don't think young people can really grasp Billy Ball. It was so fun. The rest of college basketball feared the LNC. It was considered a great venue. The fans were loud. It was hot in the LNC. During big games it was so loud your head hurt. And then it ended. The football team got in trouble and OU cracked down on everyone. McCovery, Patterson and Jones all didn't qualify. Even without those three starters OU played Duke to a 5 point game in the LNC. That was the first loss in the LNC in 4 seasons and only the 3 loss in the LNC since March of 1983.

Honestly, I enjoyed the basketball games more than the football games. I hope future students get to have a similar experience with Kruger in control.

The things about Tubbs was his unique personality. He was the master of wisecracks, played a wildly entertaining brand of ball and was easy for young people to embrace. The guy had style. Pretty hard to replicate. We were lucky.
