Spoke to the kids about being healthy and making good choices. This is another reason I love Lon - cares about his community.

Exactly! I think that's another reason Boren and Castiglione shelled out extra bucks for this hire, in addition to him being an outstanding coach!

I'm glad Kruger and Osby are getting back out to Truman. I know the staff was very frustrated with Kelvin and his players when they repeatedly didnt show up the last few years he was at OU. The last straw was when they sent a trainer in place of players during the Taj Gray/Everett years. The kids were pretty dissapointed. Especially after Najera had come out time after time despite barely knowing the language when he started at OU.

Capel did a good job of getting the guys to visit the elementary schools as well. There was a pretty good story about Honore and his commitment to one of the Norman schools last year.

I believe this program is very important.

Coach Kruger gets it when it comes to connecting with people of all ages.

I learned long ago that when you involve the children in your community, you immediately make points with parents, grandparents, teachers and everyone who plays a part in their lives.

Children like to talk about the things they do in school. I'll bet the kids at Truman Elementary couldn't wait to get home to tell someone about their visitors yesterday. Count the heads in that photo, and then multiple the number by at least two or three. Coach Kruger and Romero made some huge public relations points during their visit.
