Good post. :clap

Doesn't Jurick have 3 years of eligibility? If so, and if we can sign him, he would still be here in 2013-14.
No, like Goff he only has two years of eligibility left. Not even a redshirt year, he's out in two unless he gets hurt and gets a hardship year.

So, we definitely want to get Guerrero and not the JUCO kid that's been mentioned on this site just because then we definitely avoid this again in 2 years.

who's to say Guerrero stays more than two years? When a kid signs and qualifies you really aren't guaranteed any amount of time with them, We thought TMG would be here longer, we though TJ would last longer than a semester, you never know how long you will have anybody

I agree. I was just pointing out at least Guerrero has 5 years to play 4 whereas the juco kid only has 2 (maybe 3 to play 2; haven't checked). Since this is the case, if Guerrero even just stayed 3 years he would get us past the roster turnover we are potentially looking at in 2 years.

Hope Guerrero develops into a lotto pick, but that's going to be real tough to do considering his size.

I do too, I'm just saying we haven't had the best track record lately of keeping kids in the system. I hope it changes and I want him to sign and be a four year solid point guard for us. We just have to face the reality that for whatever reason (and no I am not putting all of it on Coach Capel) kids have had a hard time sticking around

I'm sorry but I just don't see how a guy who averaged 4 ppg and 2 rpg is going turn OU into a NCAA Tournament team. I think Jeff is blowing him up because he knows his job is on real thin ice and is looking for any excuse to keep his job after next season.

The same thing was said about Ekpe Udoh before last year.

Fair point, but I'm an optimist when it comes to recruiting and what not so heres to hoping that trend under Capel changes quickly.

Thats why I think a juco PG is a "panic move". Sure it might work these next two years but then we're back into the rebuilding move only a short two years later unless Capel cleans up in recruiting. I think going with a juco point guard makes us rely on them and thats something I dont want OU to become. Getting the occasional juco recruit to fill a need is fine by my book but having the constantly reload with them is too risky now a days.

In some ways Cezar has become a program maker or breaker type recruit. I don't think he is for every program that is recruiting him but for us and our situation he might as well be.

People who think that Capel is overstating the worth of Osby to not get fired at the end of this year just do not understand Joe Castiglione. First of all, he cannot be conned by anyone.

I also believe that Capel was going to get another year no matter how bad this year turned out. Castiglione trusts his instincts. He hired Jeff if you recall. He will not be eager to fire him. Joe Castiglione can handle any pressure he might feel from the likes of critics from this message board.

If you recall, a couple of years ago there was a lot of pressure on the Athletic Department to fire Sunny Golloway. There was a lot of heat from former players and other supporters. Capel held firm and last year we went to the College World Series and this year are expected to return.

Does this mean that his original instincts on Capel was a good as for Golloway? I don't know. Castiglione probably doesn't know either at this point. But he is not a timid sort who turns in the weather vane of fans sometimes over reacts with the emotions which come from losing seasons.

You add 14/7 to THIS YEAR'S team and they might have won 5-7 more games. I'm just sayin...

you add anything and 7 to this years team and it would do wonders. We can't rebound to save our lives.

My thoughts as well. If Osby produces like he did at Mississippi State, this is going to blow up in Capel's face.

I'm not ready to take for granted anything that happened at Miss St. with Osby. Right now you have Players fighting with one another. The coach keeping Sidney on the team. Their current team being 14-12. And not to mention, The SEC is horrible this year.

I rather focus on next year. 2 years from now...really? You're already worried about 2 years from now. I want to win next year. If we bring in 3 juco players...so be it..if it gets us back to the tournament. If we make it to the elite 8 or final 4 next year...then the past 2 seasons would have been well worth the crappyness.

REALLY 2 YEARS FROM NOW???!!! We return all but 1 guy this season and we 'apparently' have a solid player joining our team who will have an immediate impact on this squad and your worried about what this team is going to look like in 2 years.

But what we don't want to happen is every two year have another two year stretch like we are in now.we can't keep yo-yo'ing every two years

Exactly and that was my point, but I guess it sailed straight over brgch's head.

This is my line of thinking of as well... As a coach, especially coming off two bad seasons, your mission in life is to put a really good team on the floor ASAP.

Blake Nash (juco pg), Dylan Talley (juco sg), Philip Jurick (juco c) are probably better (and older) bets to mix with Cam Clark, Osby, Pledger, etc and be good right away.

All it takes is one good-to-great year to change the dynamics in recruiting. Right now the pendulum is swinging downward...let's hope for the alumnus/state that the pendulum goes shooting through the roof SOONER than later...

Ya that's the beauty of college bball as opposed to college football. You can turn around any decent program in 1-2 years.
