OU basketball: Tyler Neal’s afro gone

Tyler Neal was the talk of the OU basketball office last week. He cropped his hair. Neal went from that wild afro, circa 1974, to a short cut that frankly made it hard to recognize him.
Neal attended the OU Caravan in Dallas last week, along with new Sooner coach Lon Kruger, and Kruger said the basketball office was buzzing about Neal’s new look. “He looks good,” Kruger said with a smile.
“He’s a good guy,” Neal said of Kruger. “What I saw from him the first time I met him is how he carries himself. He’s really personable. You feel comfortable going in, talking to him in the office.”
Neal said he’s been told to “stay versatile.” The plan is for Neal to play multiple positions, small forward mostly.
Neal was a late signee by Jeff Capel a year ago out of Putnam West. Neal ended up starting six games, playing in 26. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds.
