Search committee?

Refresh my memory...Did Joe C use one to hire Capel? If not, how did that become Joe's choice?

I only ask because I thought I heard that Joe isn't using one this time...Should he?

I think he uses outside companies but there is no 'Search Committee' per se. Search Committees leak like the Titanic.

Anyone know why OU hasn't posted the job opening on jobs.ou.edu? OU has the wrestling coach job posted, but nothing about the men's basketball coach opening.

I'm pretty sure that he did hire someone to help him find a coach after Sampson.

He may not come out and say he is using a search committee, but I would bet he is in contact with search firms. There is actually a big sports related search firm located here in Dallas, can't remember the guy's name who runs it.

When a lot of high profile jobs open up (and often before they do) this company works the backchannels to gauge interest before interviews are conducted. Whether it be for coaches or athletic administrators.
