Selection Show

Talk about a tough (expensive) ticket. Des Moines has 3 basketball blue bloods with big fan bases that travel very well.

Wells Fargo Arena (Des Moines, Iowa)
(1) Kansas vs. (16) Austin Peay
(8) Colorado vs. (9) UConn
(5) Indiana vs. (12) Chattanooga
(4) Kentucky vs. (13) Stony Brook

By comparison, a ticket in OKC should be easier to come by.

Chesapeake Energy Arena (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)
(6) Texas vs. (11) Northern Iowa
(3) Texas A&M vs. (14) Green Bay
(7) Oregon State vs. (10) VCU
(2) Oklahoma vs. (15) Cal State Bakersfield

If Texas A&M and Texas make it to the second round, we may have a record number of Texans visiting for a basketball game.

Barring an injury, no excuses for OU not getting to the Final Four as I think this is a best case scenario bracket for the Sooners.

Pretty much agree at the very least the great 8. At that point it has been a great season but win it all please.

The selection show was a slow paced diluted bowl of .......

Joe C. is awesome. He is handling brilliantly every objection that the CBS analysts are throwing at him. I still don't necessarily agree with Tulsa being in the tournament, but he certainly backed up their case with metrics that the other bubble teams didn't have. I'm so glad he is a part of OU athletics.

He articulated himself well, but this is one of the worst jobs the committee has ever done. Syracuse and Tulsa were particularly egregious. The stuff about acknowledging that Jim Boeheim didn't coach the team the first half of the season infuriated me. He was SUSPENDED. It's not like he was recovering from illness or something.

I was OK with Syracuse getting in. Much like Tulsa, Syarcuse at least had some quality wins to fall back on. I think Tulsa and Vanderbilt were the two that shouldn't have gotten in.....and should have been replaced with St. Bonnie and Monmouth. And I also think you could make a case for Wichita not making the tournament either. But other than that, I think the committee did an ok job.....not great, but not bad either.

I suspect this was one of the most difficult years to pick teams for the tournament. As one of the graphics on TV showed, the infamous 'bubble' had more teams in it than usual. No matter what they did, lots of people were going to scream.

I don't see anything wrong with taking into account coaching absences and player injuries as long as it was a short stint and they are back with the team for the tournament.

I thought there were a few misses there at the end, but I don't think it was all that bad.

I do agree with Calipari on one thing though, it seems every year the "buzz words" that the Committee are using changes. One year it'll be RPI. The next wins over top 50 teams. The next OOC scheduling or SOS in general.

I get that each Committee has it's own pulse, but there has to be some kind of standardization, or else it comes across as being unfair. I don't know.

Cal thinks he's deserving when all he did was barely win the conference tournament. SEC got only 3 schools in when most thought it only should have gotten 2. They lost to 3 teams with losing records. They should be happy with a 4 seed

I agree. I don't think Cal just meant that comment towards his team (I haven't watched his rant, I mean interview), but I think it applies to the selection process in general.

Yep, they were 3-2 vs the top 50 with some real bad losses.
