Selection Sunday with reactions

With the last three years Lon Kruger would have gotten two out of three years to the NCAA tournament.
 
If he isn't going to voice a specific compliant about the selection process today or maybe tomorrow, he doesn't need to. It'll just sound like sour grapes and whining if he brings it up down the road.

Move on get to work on the roster for next season. Trust me, you need a better one.

I was a bit Lon fan and appreciative of his time here. I think he earned the right to maybe go out a year or two too late. Eight years is a LONG time.

I'm in the NIT play camp. I wonder if we declined the invite because the current NIT banner is full and the AD didn't want to pay for the creation of another one. To say nothing of moving all of the banners for symmetry's sake. We should've seen the writing on the wall.
 
As previously mentioned, I want to see OU basketball win a national championship. Almost more than football. I love to wake up knowing OU basketball plays that day.

To see the program at a point where they turn down a likely 1 seed in the NIT is… well, there’s no one to blame but themselves.

So many chances to not be on the cut line. Pretty gutting.

Lon was great at developing guards and letting athletes be athletes. No chance he has Los and JM standing around dribbling 20 seconds off the clock every possession. This is absolutely a tournament roster. Not even a question about it. I’d say at least 10 coaches in the league would have this team in the tourney.

That's not a coach who is fighting for his job. If he was interested and staying, and Joe C wanted him out, he'd be trying to win it all. Getting to 25 wins (or whatever it is) and being NIT champs would have made him almost unfirable.

Not this year for me. Not gonna lie… I didn’t particularly enjoy watching this team this year (or last year). Kind of boring and things were almost always a struggle. I had so much fun at the UH game because that was one game over the past few years where it felt like we were going toe to toe with a team that mattered. I was SO into that game… in large part because it felt kinda rare.

I’m a fan. I always root for them even if I think they stink or even if I find them stale. And had they made the NIT, I would have watched (and maybe even attended). Which is why I am glad they declined… because now I don’t have to 😁
 
The NIT has become a pointless tournament. Many teams have decided not to play, rightfully so. It may be good for G5 and smaller schools but for OU, it’s the NCAA tourney or bust. Glad we declined it.
 
Had we accepted the NIT invite, had we made the Final 4 at Hinkle, I guarantee you I would've made the trip to Indianapolis. I'd deliver bocabull's mixed beverages forever and ever to see OU play in that building just once.
 
Maybe Moser punted on the NIT b/c he didn't want to lose to his former team. lol
 
It sounds like they staff knew that McCollum, Soares, and Hugley were mostly or all out anyway. This team wasn't winning any tournament without at least 2 of those 3.
 
I’d always rather watch OU basketball than not, despite the circumstances. Declining the NIT bid is very telling.

Not really sure what next year looks like from a roster standpoint. I’d say the only direction is up, but I don’t know at this point.

Meaning what? They said all last week that JM and Waldo were a day or two away from being available and that they would be close to full strength by this week, and even said Hugley might be ready. Do you mean they thought those guys had mentally checked out? I can’t see that being the case with Waldo.
