Shepherd Will transfer

On the Trae thing, I'm not sure on that. Trae and him were roommates, and I've always heard Shep usually had Trae's back when others were upset with him. Shep was upset with the coaches because he didn't play as much, when he felt like him and Trae easily could have played together, but not the him and Trae not liking each other. I had always heard, like I said, the opposite.

I 100% agree that I thought they should've played together more, going back to the fact you need more than 1 playmaker on the court at all times.

Also he might not have been mad at Trae but the fact that he makes a mistake & gets pulled immediately while someone makes the same mistake & isn't pulled has to be frustrating. Now Trae is obviously given a longer leash because of all the things he could do. I think Shepherd saw the writing on the wall that he probably wouldn't be a starter & like someone said is a long way from home.

Need good players! Not warm bodies!

BINGO!!! I think the staff has got to do a better job with filling scholarships with good quality players who will contribute solid minutes & not just warming their butts on the bench.Go sooners!!

That annoyed him some, but it was more frustrating for him that guys like James and others could struggle, but coach never brought him in to replace them. Like I said, him and Trae were good friends. The in fighting was more of James, Odomes, and others with Trae, with Shep backing Trae for a lot of it.

I can see that. Thanks for the info.

Yep. ****ty teammate who wasn’t even good. See ya!

I've never seen anything to show he was a bad teammate. He also showed that he is a big12 player, maybe not a starter but definitely a contributor. I wish him nothing but the best.

I have no problem with us signing Shepherd, and I appreciate his time here. Transfers are normal and healthy for a program. Hopefully Jordan finds a better home for him, and we can find a better fit for that scholarship.

This.

Don't blame him for leaving if he wants to start or play more. Most kids do. And he'll likely transfer somewhere that will allow him to do just that. He certainly wasn't our problem this year.

If you are unhappy with your playing time and are jealous of other players on your own team, you have a bad attitude.

I totally side with all of the other players. It was so obvious the slack Trae was given compared to everyone else and yes it could have been handled better.

Hopefully or like 4-5!

Eh. At this point there is no way we'd use those scholarships on better players. Too late in the process. But we'd have to field a team, which means we'd have to give out scholarships to SOMEBODY, which means we'd be taking bad players with 4 years left. For the most part, I'd rather just roll with what we have.

Does that mean we have someone solid coming in that hasn't yet been announced? I can't imagine why he'd leave otherwise, since the starting job would basically be his by default.

Maybe bc he was lions sacrifice to get trae here.

I don’t blame Shepherd one bit. All he did was work hard and compete. He deserved more time and he has a lot of potential. Lon screwed the pooch on this one

I’ll be rooting for you shep.

Best of luck, but this is not a loss. He was not a Big XII caliber player.

He most definitely is.

And he will prove it wherever he lands.
He got a raw deal here

Personally, this is what I'd like to see:

I'd like to see the guys who are not going to see the floor here transfer out. I think we all know who those guys are, and I wish them well and would never advocate pulling their scholarship, but I hope they decide it's in their best interest to head elsewhere.

I'd also like Lon to retire. He should not be fired, but he's 65 years old and doesn't have the right staff in place currently. This roster needs a complete overhaul and an injection of new blood, and I'm not sure if Lon is the best guy to do that at this point. Again, I would not fire him because he has earned a much longer leash than two bad seasons, but I also just don't see him leading the turnaround that we need.
