Shepherd Will transfer

Addition by subtraction in more ways than 1. Besides the fact that he was one of the worst guards in the conference he apparently had a bad attitude, too. Good riddance!

Lol this is rich.

Trae can do no wrong and shep has a bad attitude and is the cancer. This is the exact reason he is leaving

I have no problem with us signing Shepherd, and I appreciate his time here. Transfers are normal and healthy for a program. Hopefully Jordan finds a better home for him, and we can find a better fit for that scholarship.

Yeah, now with this extra scholarship we can go find an athletic point guard with two years of experience that can run plays and gives great effort.

Oh wait...

No, the exact reason he is leaving is because he was nowhere near an OU level point guard.

Where do you think Shepherd is going to end up, and how do you think he'll fare?

I’m not sure what level you think OU is, but we were almost last in the conference.
Shepherd was a good player. And it’s going to be tough to find someone that would do a better job than he would have next year.

I’m guessing somewhere close to home. And he will surprise people.

Stacy king believes the same. Trae believes the same.

Lon will regret how he handled this big time

I will bet any amount of money that he won’t regret losing Shepard. He could be replaced by someone at the huff. Good luck to him, though.

We were closer to 2nd place than last place. Shepherd is not a good player. This is dumb, even for you.

Shepherd is a solid player. Can play the 1-2, defends, plays hard. Went from 25 mins a game to 5. He is a big12 caliber player, just not a starter. Could strive at a 4th guard with 10-15 mins a game.

He wasn't at 5 to start the year. He ended up at 5 due to his performance, which was consistently abysmal throughout the year. As it was the previous year. Even as a true freshman his numbers were just abysmal, and we were an 11 win team in large part because he had to play significant minutes.

I disproved this in an earlier post.
His numbers were fantastic to start the year. And they got worse each time his minutes dropped.

His performance dropped when when his inconsistent playing time dropped

We won’t miss him at all, not a good player. Couldn’t do anything in the few minutes he would get in. Several times Lon had to bring TY back in too quickly because we tanked with Shep in. Happy trails and he will probably sit on the bench wherever he ends up except at D-2 level.

Don’t want someone on our team that is a whiner.

Nah, just need lazemby to kick rocks now and we will be good. I’m ok with freeman sticking around personally.

Why? Based on his 3 pt shooting?? Personally id rather keep him over Freeman who offers nothing. Lazenby atleast took some charges..

I don't know how good Shepherd might have been. He certainly looked better last year and earlier this season than he did in conference play, but he got such limited minutes in conference play it's hard to know for sure. If you know you're only going to play three or four minutes, you don't get to settle in at all and you may well feel you can't let the game come to you -- you've got to accomplish something big as soon as you're on the floor.

It's entirely possible that with Trae gone and Shepherd getting normal minutes next season, he'd have made some strides. We'll never know.

But either way, it boggles my mind a a little bit to hear people say it's no loss that he's transferring, simply we don't have a single point guard on the roster now. That's why I asked early in the thread if there was an announcement coming about a transfer PG coming in, because if not, Shepherd walked away from a season of starting at PG and many posters are blithely discounting his departure, as if we currently have other legitimate options at that position.
