Coale and Thrailkill were at the Region 2 Tournament at Shawnee watching NEO.

They have a good sophomore big in Mariam Gnanou (6-5)

She is athletic and can shoot it from 15 feet.

OSU coaches were there as well both Friday and today. Thrailkill was also there on Friday as well.

A realization that EJ is not the answer in the middle? Glad they are on the recruiting trail.

I agree!!! Goodness, I hope they are out there looking for another big for next season that will immediately impact our team. I have faith in Lampkin (i've seen tons of footage on her) to be an athletic, contributing forward, but when we play big, that's when i'll be nervous.

To me Dee looks like she can be similar to Smith kid headed to Baylor, she has a lot of guard skills atlest in high school. She can get the rebound and go, looks to score when she comes down the floor and has a nice midrange game... she looks like the normal type of Power Forwards Sherri likes to play, but I think Madi who can also play the 4 is the better player and will probably have the inside track at starting. Since Sherri hads brought Lampkins in as a post and calls her an undersized post, so I wonder if she will allow her to do some of the things she does in her highlight videos. I always thought one thing that drove Mulkey away was Sherri not letting her shot 3’s or midrange shots, I always thought Nanc should have been allowed to shot from deep at 6’9 it would have been hard to block her shot...

If she’s any good she won’t cone here.

Recruit Jill Barta. 6-3 kid who graduates from Gonzaga this year. She has decided not to play her senior year at Gonzaga (redshirted one year). She was twice (?) conference MVP. Gone back home to Montana.

Problem:
We have eleven on scholarship.
seniors: EJ, Gileysa
juniors: none
sophomores: Ana, Shaina, Mandy
Freshmen: Madison, Tatum, Taylor, Jessie, Nydia, Aspen.

We can offer four for this coming year (JC transfers, senior transfers). But, that would leave only two slots available for November. We are really trying to pick the best six. If we took six, we couldn't sign anyone next year unless we lost someone. We have maximum of six over the next couple of years.

Do you want two to be JC transfers?
We are in on:
#7 Liz Scott 6-0 W Klein Oak, TX
#14 Haley Jones 6-1 W Archbishop Mitty, San Jose, CA
#48 Kennedy Brown 6-5 P Derby, KS
#2 Laeticia Amihere 6-2 F Kings Collegiate, Ontario, CN
Gabby Gregory 5-11 W Tulsa Holland Hall

We have heard that we are on the list of these players. May be others, like the two JC kids.

Do you have preferences? Do we slowplay a couple to see if others might commit here? These are just for next year, 2019. 2020 brings up other opportunities, like the girl from Edmond that we've heard about for three years who is in the 6-3 to 6-4 range. We are also recruiting a girl from Maryland who is about 6-3 from 2020.

Since Rich has retired because of her injuries, can her scholarship be switched to an academic one, thereby opening another ship this season?

That would enable us to take another big.

If you notice, I didn't include Rich. She's gone, or will be , graduation.

syb,
spring 2018 recruiting - ideal situation -
one grad transfer - regardless of position best one you can find.
one juco transfer post only if the player is really an upgrade over EJ

fall 2019 recruiting - 3 kids
2 best 4/5s you can find
1 best wing you can recruit
you go up to 4 for only one reason
Liz Scott or other top ten wing

Fall 2020 recruiting = 3 kids
1post
2 wings

I do not know if Rich's scholly becomes classified as academic but with a career injury he scholly will not count against the 15 allowed for active players . So the slot she took on the roster in 2017 will not be taken in 2018.

We have been signing some very good players of late. Not necessarily at the positions of most need but definitely quality players. It may be far fetched but signing Barta could definitely be a possibility if she meets Sherri's desired player profile.

Barta is either looking at pro basketball or moving on from her sports career to start her career as a teacher back home in Montana.

Spock and Atlanta,

I think you guys have always had the absolutely best info here, since Norm left (a sad loss to the intelligence of this board to say the least).

I'd like to ask you who you guys think are our best chances to sign at the 4 and 5 over the next two periods. I'm not talking about who we are in on/recruiting, but the two to four most likely forward/wing and center.

My opinion is we need both a 4 and and 5, possibly two of both.

I'd like to read your best guesses.

Thanks,

Mr. Hardy, Esquire

I cannot project any 4 or 5 that we are likely to sign. I am hoping for Kennedy Brown personally. I never attempt to project Sherri Coale's direction who she offers, who she signs or the quality of the players she signs until I have seen them play at least a dozen D-1 games. I have high hopes for Madi and Tatum but no expectations at this time.

I not certain Chad Thrailkill or Pam Decosta could tell you more than two weeks in advance who Sherri is likely to offer or sign. Sherri might not be able to tell you two weeks in advance who she wants to sign based on the limited inside information I get.

You are 100% correct that it was a huge loss for this board when Norm left. I completely understand why he left. You know as well as I do the ones he got tired of putting up with.

Well it's incredibly hard getting any recruiting info.
This time last year neither Madi Williams or Lampkin were really connected to OU.
So it's entirely possible a big time name ends up at OU that we are not talking about right now.

Kennedy Brown is probably target 1 at post
Liz Scott is overall target 1. She's a difference maker.

Give Sherri credit for scouting and evaluating Shaina. Who was lower ranked.
I think Lampkin is going to have a similar impact. Way under rated.
So Sherri might have another one of those players lined up.
Course you get recruiting misses this way too. It's a gamble.

Really at this point, Twitter is our only real reliable source of what is going on. Hale if pushed will post something. Sometimes.

Amihere may be a great difference-maker. But, I also think she is very, very green. May be the best athlete.

Haley Jones may be a difference-maker.. Since she listed OU, I assume that we are recruiting her.

We have also seen a post on McKenna Warnock (2019, #70 W 6-0), Emily Ryan (PG 5-6)(2020), and Saylor Poffenbarger (6-1 W) (2020-2021?) OU is apparently in touch with all three. Poffenbarger is a #6 or #7 Blue Star who is also being recruited by UConn. I don't remember being up against UConn before. I think Raoull said we had visited her (school?in home?). Ryan is a Stiles type.
