Stoops laying another egg as usual. zzzzzz

Boren will probably extend him again.

Heupel vs Greg Robinson??? Who would ya take? Stoop was lucky to have Leach and Mangino as offensive coordinator. I wish Stoop would hire back Mangino to lead the offense. Also please give Kendall Thompson a chance.

Great point. I was thinking during the game that Applewhite being OC for Texas and Heupel being OC for the Sooners is an example of how stale both our programs have become. Nepotism. There is no way there aren't more qualified/talented people out there for those jobs.

Then again, hiring their former QBs has worked out pretty well for Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Mangino returning to OU as an OC would be interesting. He took four years off after getting fired at kansas and just got back into coaching again this year (at Youngstown State). The guy clearly knows football. He won at kansas, which no one does. I'm kind of surprised no one's given him a job until now, but maybe it was by choice (kansas was still paying him for years after he left as part of the settlement... maybe that influenced things).

Recycling ex coaches is something Stoops needs to stop doing. It's what the problem is in the first place.

Well. The defense is doing well this year. Out of the 36 points, 14 of thems are from special team break down and interception return for a touch. Mike Stoop brought the defense back to where it belongs. We lost two defense starter: Corey Nelson and Phillip. I think Phillip would have make a difference in stopping the run. Mangino knows how to run an offense period. We were very good under him when he was the OC. He knew how to coach offense lineman. Stoop should rehire Mangino. In a couple of year with Mike and Mark Mangino at the helm, we will get back to where we belong. If you watch the TCU game, the defense won the game for us. We could not move the ball against TCU in the second half. We could have lost that game. If we had any offense at all, we would blow out TCU easily.

As far back as I can remember, probably Galen Hall, we've not had an offensive coordinator that wasn't ripped to shreds by the fans and it will happen again with the next coordinator. Some were ripped more than others but they have all been attacked unmercilessly. As in most games, the lines of scrimmage are the key and I think we got kicked on both sides pretty good. Our offense hasn't looked great in any game this year, really. Defense had played a lot better this year and am surprised how bad we looked yesterday. If our defense was good because of 2 players then our defense really isn't that great afterall. Hopefully, something changes to get us back on the winning path.

lol

OU has some awful football fans.

Before the season started, most anybody with a brain figured we'd lose 2-4 games during the regular season. We're in a rebuild. And b/c Knight "froze" on the big stage, we're rebuilding with a QB that is amongst the worst starters in the Stoops era at OU. Defense just doesn't have the playmakers. Bob made the staff changes, the D changed their scheme, and the O did too, to an extent. Can't always expect dramatic changes overnight. Recruiting seems to be picking up, and I think they are re-emphasizing certain aspects of that. We'll be fine. I'd still take Bob over any coach not named Saban or Meyer. Not saying there aren't other "equals", but nobody has been better over the last decade plus.

You are an idiot. It sucks that OU lost but I challenge you to name coaches that have averaged more wins per season than Bob Stoops. Stoops deserves every penny he is paid.

Start your list right now. You give the name and I will either confirm you are correct or prove with links that the coach did not win as many games per season as Bob Stoops.

Stoops is doing so well that last years 10-3 season seemed like a bad season. When 10 wins is a bad season something is really right.

I'm really surprised we didn't try knight for a series, even if Bell had been looking good. I was sure we would when we played ford so early...figured we would pull out all the stops.

But I blame this loss on not converting 3rd downs and letting texas continually convert 3rd and long. I guess Phillips and nelson really were that important b/c we looked like last years defense.

Heupel needs to go. Frustrating b/c it won't happen since he married into the Boren family. But Bob proved us wrong by firing stale assistants last year. Lets see if he has the balls to do it again. JH freaking said that you pass to set up the run! That's crazy. I understand that they were stacking the box, but we were still running on them and Bell can't hit anything past 10 yards!

Maybe it's time for Cody Thomas or K Thompson?

25 rushes divied amongst 5 running backs. Not good.

Why do people keep suggesting Thompson is the answer? Because his dad was so good for OU years ago?

On paper, Kendall Thompson was the worst passer of any QB we currently have at OU, coming out of HS. Most everybody figured he'd move to WR. I promise he is not the long term answer.
