words that is the announcers words TWICE tonight. He is a CHEATER. Not just a flopper (and he has taught a couple of his teamates this Flop crap too) but he has TWICE tonight pulled down someone and made it look like he was fouled. Those refs ought to be ashamed of themselves - they are supposed to watch teams on tape ahead of time to know "what" to watch for and also they have been out of place to see it and make the right calls.

Smart - to me - is a cheater. If you are a basketball player play by the rules and win. Don't do things like that on purpose to CHEAT. What a cheater - not a winner. I would hate it if one of our players did that Crap all the time.

Flopped again!!!!!!!!!!! What a wimp, ALWAYS ON THE FLOOR - STAND UP YOUNG MAN STAND UP LOL. That boy falls almost every trip down the floor.

Let's see, he is 6'4" and 235 and somehow he gets knocked down all the time, LOL. Hmmmmm, So funny

And to think OSU is about to lose and we were gonna have a free weekend away from the Aggies on the Board then you have to post this crap

Ain't that the truth. If he MUST continue talking, he should have just bumped one of the 100 threads he has already started about osu.

Geez.

I bet #1 did not get into his chest and push him on the next play.

So you like dirty cheating type of basketball huh Traveler? No place for that kind of crap - Smart = DIRTY. If you are supposed to be so good play by the rules and WIN. Again, Is it OK to cheat on your taxes if you don't get caught? NOPE. Same here as in all parts of life.

Also, he shouldn't have had to worry about "getting into his Chest" the next time; Smart should have been ejected from that game and sent to the shower's and suspended the next game. That is an Easy call or should be for the refs.

Traveler, you dissappointed me after I gave you a good lesson on the "Ignore" button, LOL. Use it please

I was creeping over on OrangePower. They're crying nonstop about the officiating in today's game! Ha!

Say what you will about Vinny but he is 100% correct when he calls Smart a flopper. Smart is a really good basketball player worthy of the praise he receives IMO, but he is an even better flopper.

Yes, he's a flopper, but we know. We get it. How many threads do we need about it?

Talking/complaining about them constantly makes you look like the one with the little brother syndrome.

I also don't know why certain posters can't have a civilized discussion with some of the better OSU posters around here without resorting to stupid trollish insults. It makes you seem like an immature child.
(StatGeek, obviously the vast majority of this post is not directed toward you.)

Yea I agree we don't need so many threads, but I do think it's odd someone with his build is on the ground so often. But, give OU Marcus Smart this year and they would have a game to play tomorrow against KU.

It's agreed by most that Smart is a flopper and a bit shady as a player, but does there have to be a thread about it after every oswho game? I'm afraid that next will be posting a jokes game thread.

No one can deny Smart's talent or his competiveness. He's one heck of a basketball player. But when a player's competitive spirit makes him think that he has to resort to bush league tactics in every game he plays, one has to wonder if his win at any cost mentality is a sign of a deeper problem?

Venny is correct in calling Smart a "flopper." It's a reputation that is well deserved and growing with every game. The announcers in last night's game covered it extensively by talking about what K-State players had said about Smart, calling him a cheater and a flopper after their loss in Stillwater. The phrase the players used to describe Smart was "Sneaky Flopper."

KSU players also said the officials let him get away with too much. And, therein, lies the problem. To last night's officiating crew's credit, they ignored two or three attempts by Smart to flop his way to a call. But he was successful in getting an offensive foul called toward the end of the game when he clearly pulled the K-State player down on top of him. The announcers were correct in labeling that play, as well as a charge Smart drew a short time later, as a "bad call."

The K-State players are right, the officials let Smart get away with too much. It's a shame, really. He's good enough that he doesn't have to call attention to himself by being labeled as a dirty player.

NOTE: If this thread does not continue as a civil discussion, it will be closed without delay.

This thread reminds me that years ago on our high school basketball team we had a kid that was a big-time flopper and he was also our dirtiest player. Maybe the two go together.

Smart reminds me of Missouri's Jason Sutherland (but of course a much better player).

If guys like that are on our team they are tough and hard nosed and for the other team they are dirty, lol.

BTW, Blake Griffin was a flopper as well.

:ez-roll: Good point. The team a player is on does tend to change the way we feel about him.

You're right, Blake did (and still does) spend a lot of time on the floor. But I don't recall seeing him wrap a player up and pull him down in an attempt to get a call. NBA officials don't fall for those tactics as easily as college officials do. It won't work nearly as well at the next level for Smart either.

As for Jason Sutherland, he was a dirty player. Tough and hard nosed to be sure, but also dirty.

A lot of teams thought Eduardo was dirty. I think a lot of it is simply perception.

This was said tongue-in-cheek. Look, here is the deal.

Given: Smart is a flopper. Obviously.

Given: Smart gets bogus calls in his favor. Certainly.

I will even go so far to say that Smart is “smart” enough to have learned that some game officials are stupid, and he can easily fool them, time after time, multiple times each game. I’m guessing that Smart laughs and makes fun of the officials when the team watches game film the next day. I don’t know how he is able to keep a straight face during the game!

But, repeatedly pointing these things out, over and over and over, comes across as weeping and whining. Get over it. Please.
