Softball

Just saw on Soonersports.com that OU won in Lubbock tonight, 4-2. No other details just yet.

Kind of a sluggish game. We scored two in the fourth off of back-to-back doubles by Aviu and Romero followed by a single by Mendes and a squeeze bunt by Wodach. Then, Knighten led off with a home run in the fifth. Mendes singled, stole second, and Pendley singled to score the fourth run.

Lowary ran into trouble in the fifth. But, Lopez came in, walked the first batter to load the bases with two out. Then, she struck out the next five hitters she faced. A pop up and a sixth strikeout finished the game. She dominated. Mendes was kind of the star: two for three, three stolen bases, two runs scored.

Due to weather concerns, the game has been moved up from 4:00 to 2:00.

Thanks!

Final 12-0, run rule in five. Knighten, Hatfield, and Romero hit home runs. Parker pitched four with one hit. Mendes pitched the fifth.

Admittedly tech isn't very good but dominating performance today by Paige. Of the first 9 outs 7 were K's. Nice to see Shay Knighten hitting the ball better and with more power.

We're beginning to see the Shay that existed last year during the playoffs. First, she had the thirteen-game run with at least one RBI. After not getting an RBI against Baylor, she has five against Tech. Her best at bat may have been getting a single with the bases loaded.

Brit Finney pitched a three-hitter against Alabama today and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh with a double that also set up the winning run. Brit walked the first hitter of the game, and that ended up being the only one that scored against her. Brit won 2-1 in seven after trailing the entire game, 1-0.

Game three lineup:

RF Mendes
2B Clifton
1B Knighten
DP Aviu
3B Romero
CF Pendley
LF Hatfield
C Wodach
SS Arnold
SP Lopez

OU won 14-3, run ruled in five.

Knighten had two home runs, 5 RBIs
Pendley had a home run

Can someone post what this weeks softball schedule is. Thanks

Tennessee at A&M, LSU at South Carolina, UCLA host Arizona, Alabama host Auburn and Oregon host FSU. OU plays at OSU Wednesday and Saturday and in Norman Friday.

OU dropped one slot in the rpi to #13 behind LSU which moved up despite splitting their series with Mizzou in Baton Rouge 2-1.

Based on early weather forecasts it's doubtful that Wednesday's game gets played as scheduled.
