This is usually the most positive board to be on when it comes to OU bball. I am honestly shocked by some of the posts and threads with the negativity. Our team flew a 1/3 of the way around the world after doing it only a week earlier and came away with a tourney title.

We are going to get EVERYONES best shot. Especially when we are undefeated and we are #3 in the country. Some of you act like we are Kentucky and 11-0 happens every year for us. When in all reality it's only happened 2 times in 26 years for OU.

Fellas be happy! We are 11-0 and playing great basketball and beat a couple of decent teams this week. We have a guy averaging 24.9 A GAME. We have 2 guys who can successfully play PG and Woodard has improved as much or more than buddy has. We have a deep bench and scoring and defensive players out of this world.

This is a fun team guys! Enjoy what they've done and show it by being positive about what's going on at the LNC. Cause you're getting to see something special right now. And we may not see something like this for many...many years.

BOOMER!

This is a great team and hasn't played their best yet.

I'm scared to come to this board when we lose a game if we keep complaining about wins against quality teams.

SOONER!
I'm enjoying this season immensely .

Usually the negative threads start after a loss but it's a slow time for the football armchair coaches so not winning pretty becomes the topic.

Try to imagine what it's like on message boards based out of my old hometown of Albuquerque. Full meltdown! Part of that is because many Lobo fans think they have been a big-time national power in the past, when they've rarely been as good as OU has since about 1977. But they really can't understand why they're not a perennial top 10 team, out there.

If you go on the game thread the negative stuff starts 30 seconds into the game. If you look carefully though 3 or 4 people post a high percentage of the negative stuff.

We are off to a good start. The best news is that several times our guys have finished very strong in a number of close games. The worst news is that we give up too many big leads but part of that is one of the negatives of an up tempo game. We also have some fantastic runs ourself.

Good observation.

We saw the potential of this team in the first 3 min of the 2nd half.

Right. Some are idiotic with their negativity, but criticism is a good thing. This team is very good right now, but they haven't played their best. The exciting thing is that their best is terrifying.

People have opinions deal with it. If OU was destroying everyone there would be nothing to talk about. This team has high expectations. One thing that is true is this team hasn't reached it's ceiling yet. Plenty of time for that.

Falls into two categories:

"Realistic Negative", where the team is showing room to grow and the assesment reflects that. We all hope this squad hits on all cylinders, but some posters describe what the obstacles to that are. They often change game-to-game. I'm cool with this school of thought, because it usually doesn't sound ungrateful for our players/staff/fans, etc.

" Unrealistic Negative", where because [specified criterion unrelated to the makeup of this team, play style, etc.], or [just being a hemorrhoid], we're hot trash. Aight, cool. FOH, bruh.

There is always negativity. For me, I say very little positive and lead in with the negative. But, what should be looked at is the validity of anyone's remarks. I am so proud of these kids who have stuck it out together and they are being rewarded for it. They are setting us up nicely for the future also.

Human nature. The convincing win over Villanova made a lot of us believe that OU is a national title contender. With that comes higher expectations. Are some of those expectations unreasonable? No doubt. We're not always going to be at our best, especially in the month of December.

That said, when we're up 20 against a solid but not great team in Harvard, and a few minutes later they're in position to make it a one-score game, it's going to invite criticism. A national title contender should not let this happen to them. Fortunately, if we are a national title contender, this won't happen to us two months from now.

I'll admit to partaking in some of the criticism, but it's always constructive...and I'm not shy about all the things I love about this team as well. :woot

I have a lot of time on my hands frequent a lot of message boards for different schools. Every one of them is the same: There's your (1) Homers (2) Pessimists (3) Realists and (4) Trolls. This place is no different.

It's just the way message boards are. There's always someone there to ***** about something. No one is ever completely satisfied unless they win a national championship. It is what it is.

Depending on the day, I'm usually either #1 or #2. And I've learned to just not post when I'm #2. :D

Therein lies the difference between you and certain other posters. You do celebrate the positive. Some focus only on the negative, seemingly taking the positive entirely for granted, and that's objectionable. No positive achievements from a group of college athletes should be taken for granted in the rush to criticize.

Out there hundreds of lurkers are crying out, "What about us?"

Well said, Sky!

Negative posts are common on every board I have been on over the years. Nothing wrong with that, unless you're one of those posters who seem to search for something negative to say, or you focus on the negatives and ignore the numerous positives.

As a member of this board since it's inception, I have grown accustomed to complaints and negativity after every loss. This is the first time in my memory that an undefeated team has been dissected and put back together again by a handful of posters who seem to delight in identifying this team's weaknesses.

It's not that they don't have any. As I said before, this team is still a work in progress in a number of ways. But when a group of hard working, dedicated kids plow through the non-conference portion of their season undefeated, winning every game except two by 12 points or more, it's hard to find a lot to complain about.

If they're being scrutinized and criticized now, I don't even want to think about what it will be like when they lose.
