Sooners taking advantage of secluded scrimmage >>> The Oklahoman

Re: Sooners taking advantage of secluded scrimmage >>> The Oklahoman

You can choose to have any combination of Exhibitions and Scrimmages as long as they don't exceed two, or at least I think so from what I read in the article... So either two exhibitions, which earns more revenue (KU), two scrimmages, more practice time (UT), or one of each (OU).

DISCLAIMER: If I am wrong please correct me. I would hate to answer someone else's question with incorrect facts.

I believe this is correct. There are also some weird rules associated with the scrimmages. From the article above:

But the scrimmages carry some odd rules:
* No one other than coaches, players and athletics staff are allowed to attend.
* The scrimmage must be closed to the public.
* Student-athletes cannot miss any class time.
* There must not be any publicity or official scoring.

DAZE or DFW...Have either one of you guys heard anything???

I just got on the site and saw this. Scrimmage was obviously closed door, so might take some time to get inside info. I've got one source that I'm checking with. Will update if/when I get anything worth sharing.

You are correct concerning the closed door scrimmage. It gives coaches time to stop and teach and you are not limited to just two halves. You can set up your own parameters on what you want to work on. Usually an assistant coach or team manager will chart the scrimmage but there is not an official score that is kept. About the only thing kept is time. If it were me, I would spend more time trying to schedule close by D-1 teams to scrimmage as opposed to exhibition games, that way you have a better idea of what type of team you have for the up coming season. Re: Sooners taking advantage of secluded scrimmage >>> The Oklahoman

Here's what I found out so far:

1. There were two 20 minute periods, plus one "situational" period.
2. UNT dominated the first 20 minute period.
3. The second 20 minute period was more even.
4. UNT was also better in the "situational" period.
5. Source told me that OU simply has no real scorers at this early stage that could hurt UNT. OU really struggled on offense.
6. Cam started and had a few nice dunks but that was all. TJ did not play.

Sorry, that's all I know at this point.

Thanks nice info. I feel bad for TJ that must be a bad concussion.

If OU does well or wins this scrimmage, it's probably a good sign because North Texas is better than OU, atleast on paper.

Really? How can North Texas have a team with better players than OU. OU has Pledger, Ftizgerald, Cam and TJ as top 100 players. Does North Texas truly have a more talented roster?

They have a really salty senior PG in Josh White (Q's younger brother) who has beaten OSU and led the Eagles to the dance last year. They are not a bad team.
