Starting Line-up for Washburn

That 5 looked very good in practice yesterday. I get the feeling the freshmen will prove that recruiting rankings are often overvalued.

Hornbeak
Pledger

Osby

This is a lineup I expected to see at some point but not for the first exhibition game. Hornbeak was my pick for top FR guard. Love his game. Mature, smooth, under control. I still think the starters and rotation will be fluid early and wouldn't be surprised if a lineup and rotation was not completely set until early December.

Often?? i don't agree with that. I'll take my chances with 4 & 5 stars..you can have all the 3 stars you want, and let's play. Like anything, there are exceptions to every rule, but by in large the rankings seem somewhat accurate (at least remotely). It's not like those two guys were rated at the bottom of the barrel. Hornbeak was a 4 star by some (Rivals) and Cousins was a consistent 3 star who many felt was under valued. They beat out a juco transfer and a 4 star wing who has struggled at times.

We must be better this year though if we can bring guys like Cam CLark and Fitz off the bench!! Hopefully Cousins can handle the PG spot. This team just seems soooo versatile.

Why don't we wait to see what they do against guys who were ranked high...b/c they will get their shot in the big 12.

Fitzgerald, Grooms, and Clark not starting anymore. Wow, big change.

This tells me that LK has at least eight that can play. I like it...

Give Gary his due, he nailed it.

I like this line up. First, it puts everyone on notice that no starter's job is safe this season. It also give Coach Kruger five players who can push it on offense and defend toe to toe with the intensity he wants to see.

More importantly, perhaps, the players coming off of the bench are veterans, each with his own special skill. Cam is an outstanding defender who can score in a lot of ways. Fitz is a big body who is good from short range, and someone I believe will prove he can do a lot more make short range jumpers this year. Tyler and Casey are capable of solid minutes in brief spurts.

Exciting stuff!

Yeah, good job, Gary.

I heard Kruger suggesting to his coaches today that they start the black shirts tomorrow, which would be Grooms, Hield, Cam, Fitz and Neal, because of the way the other group was practicing. I don't know that he will really do that, but he definitely wasn't happy with them today.

This accountability stuff is amazing. Would Tiny or TMG have played any minutes at all for Kruger?

LOl. TMG would have just teeted something that none of us understand and then left.

That is the five that has worn the red shirts lately in practice and the last few days there has not been a 6th player in red.

They were pretty sloppy today.

We might have to put up with that early if he is committed to starting 2 FR guards at the pace it looks like he wants to go. I believe he is committed to the pace but we'll see about 2 FR starting.
