Starting roster spots not guaranteed [The Oklahoman]

Good read with some encouraging quotes from our veterans. I'm sure Cam, Fitz and Sam are not really happy in coming off of the bench this season, but it's good to know that they have continued to be positive and want to do what is best for the team. Assuming they're all sincere in what they had to say, their attitude will pay huge dividends going forward.

Props to the three of you, guys! :clap

Against Ark, and after the Hogs kinda took control of the game in the second half, CLK went more to the vets. Almost worked for a win. I think we'll see a similar format in today's game. If we get in trouble, and no other factor preventing, foul trouble, injuries, etc., I look for it again.

I do think we're at a stage in the season where CLK wants to win...period. He's talked a lot about how the team needs to be more physical in their play and the player comments seem to infer the possibility of blood on the hardwood, today.

We may be in for a little chippy play. Enjoy.

Agreed. I said sometime ago that would see more of the veterans as the season progresses. Kruger clearly threw the freshmen into the fray early to get them ready for the start of conference play. Only time will tell if his strategy will pay dividends down the road a ways.

One thing is for sure, we have a lot more quality depth than at anytime last year. Plus, with no one on the team averaging more than 25 minutes per game, our players will be better prepared physically to compete in what is certain to be the toughest portion of our season still ahead, as Big 12 play gets underway.

I'm sure Fitz, Cam and Grooms wish they were getting the starts but they certainly are saying the right things. And saying the right things is easy but I just get the feeling that the atmosphere established by the staff backs it up. I read a story like that and I see beyond the growing pains of true frosh getting major minutes and, considering LK is on the touchline, know that we are miles better off than two years ago.

I just don't worry about locker room debacles anymore.
