Sweet 16 Game Thread

Wonder how many people had FAU winning 3 or more games.

And UCLA losing second half 35-16 so far. Wow.

Nowell is the guy every coach in America wants. He can score. He’s a great ball handler. He creates great opportunities for his teammates. He breaks down the defense. He’s so good.

Kansas state is the team I wanted OU to become. Fun and exciting to watch. Great players and WINNERS.

Instead, we have a dumpster fire.

And yet Gonzaga is now holding their throat and trying to hold on.

I f***ing hate Gonzaga....they are Duke level hatred for me. And of course that dude nails a 27 footer when it mattered...sigh.

Same. They are a joke playing in the wcc. They are well coached tho i have to say. But still annually overrated

I agree about KSU. To do that oop at that critical point of that game, talk about stones. And having fun, playing loose. Letting your athletes play. Every time i've watched them they seem like a bunch of guys playing street ball but in a good way. Behind the back passes, oops, between the legs.. they're having fun. All their pieces mesh, and they play so well together. That Massoud guy off the bench, what a contribution.

Yeah, I long for that for OU. Unreal they were picked last in the conference preseason.

At least the third game KSU has successfully run a lob to score a huge bucket late in a close game. Tang is so good for a first-time head coach. What a game this is!!

Nowell is so incredibly fun to watch.

Did ya see Nowell like looking at Tang to "argue" the play then basically no look lob...incredible...

Lots of good friends are ksu guys, I actually went 2 yrs there back in the early 80's...fun school...but I give my buddies crap about some of his decisions.
The kid can ball though...fun to watch.

It was a great game to just watch.

they have 8 sweet 16's in a row

Yeah, in large part due to the overseeding. Easier pathways. It is impressive no doubt. Few is a good coach. But saw them 1 year struggle with a 16 seed when they were the 1. I expected them to be the OG 1 seed to lose to a 16.

I just can't be convinced that they are any good when the largest body of work for them is the WCC all year.. dominating the San Fran Dons in 2020s doesn't impress me in the slightest (now the rankers are trying to prop up St Marys every year too to help prop up gonzaga..).

They play a ridiculously tough noncon every year and always do very well against it. And I don't see how struggling once (while still winning) in a first-round game means much -- that happens to a lot of teams. It's even happened to KU as a 1-seed.

They would clearly lose more games if they played in a P5. But it's also true that Houston wouldn't be 33-3 if they played in the Big 12. If you put the Zags in the Big 12 over the past decade, they would be right up there with Baylor, just behind KU.

This analogy won't mean much to many people, but for a stretch of about 8 years starting in the late 80s, WSU's baseball program was the second best in the nation, only behind LSU. WSU beat up on the Missouri Valley, and certainly would have lost more regular season games in the SEC, etc. But they also won the vast majority of their games against top 25 teams, and made it to Omaha just about every year. Just like Gonzaga, they wouldn't have been able to do that if their record was only a result of playing bad league opponents.

Meh. I hear what you're saying, just not buying it personally. I think theyd be like 5th-6th in big 12, at best, most years
