Terry Evans meets with OU regarding coaching vacancy

No thanks to Marshall. Evans would be great.

I am making some calls....
 
According to Chewy, nobody has interviewed for the position, so did Evans really "interview" or was it just a casual conversation? Did they even actually meet?

If I remember right, OU played UCO in an exhibition game a few years back. It was a lot closer than any expected

Same goes for OSU as well

I know there were discussions between Joe and Terry and other affiliates and that was last week. But it was unofficial, no interview. I was not aware of Tuesday but I am checking my contacts.
 
In case anyone read the NewsOK.com story in the original post earlier today, just a heads up, it has now been updated with direct quotes from Evans in it.

weren't those quotes from last week...before the supposed interview? They were not new quotes.
 
It does look like new quotes and current story. I would LOVE to hire Evans. You do have to get past public perception...my counter to that is to get and pay a top assistant with D-1 head coaching experience. You announce the hiring of Terry Evans and this assistant at the same time. Maybe you can get a Paul Hewitt (the former Georgia Tech head coach) for example as assistant?

The only issue with that is how many DI guys like Hewitt would go to Oklahoma to work for a head coach with no DI head coaching experience?
 
If you pay him well. Remember (Evans is not a top $ guy and word was OU was willing to pay). On top of that...last I heard he doesn't have a job???

Say Evans gets $750k and a Hewitt type makes $500-600k?

Read it was a 3-hour interview. That is more than courtesy, IMO, even for a former player.

I wondered the same thing. Does Evans have an agent?

The agents for most coaches find out if the interest is legit and an offer will be made before the official interview.
 
I do not know if I want Terry hired just because it is his dream job
 
wait a minute... chewy told us all on wednesday that joe c. hadn't conducted a single interview.... who are we to believe now????
