Terran Petteway (6'6'' 185-Galveston): #8 player in Texas.
-Very energetic athlete, attacks the rim, always around the ball, quick to the boards, finishes with spring at the rim, nice stroke from 18 feet.

Toddrick Gotcher (6'3'' 190-Garland): #16 player in Texas.
-Strong and physical scoring guard, can take contact and finish, smooth jumper, can create, nice 3 point stroke. Chose Tech over Auburn and Baylor.

Jordan Tolbert (6'7'' 210-Fort Worth)
-Offers from Arizona State, Tech, Colorado, Creighton, Penn State, Wichita State.

Kevin Wagner (5'8'' 150-Lubbock): #18 player in Texas.
-Very good athlete, has great spring, flies to the rim, very fast/quick, speedy in open court, can create, nice stroke from 3.

Hershey Robinson (6'7'' 200-Humble)
-2 star

Looks more like a bottom of the new Big 12 type class.
Sure they did a good job of getting some in state talent but it looks like they missed on the difference makers and with them losing Singletary and Roberson this class hurts. They need impact players, Pettaway is an undersized 4. Gotcher's not bad but I bet he is a year or two from being a strong contributor. Rest of that class screams mediocrity. Even if Knight does make some noise this year, this class could be the final nail in his coffin.

They are replacing Roberson with Javarez Willis, who was the #74 player in the class of 2010. I assume they will be replacing Singletary with Jaye Crockett, who will be a RS Freshman this year.

Tech also got Marshall Henderson becoming eligible next year, and he averaged 12 ppg as a freshman for Utah.

Pettaway is an undersized 4.

Seems like a 3 to me.

"His reputation thrives on his offensive play, as he is a gunslinger on the court. Playing summer ball with the Hornets, Petteway has shown he can light it up from deep just as well as he score while slashing to the lane."- Texas Hoops

It's a good class...

So getting the #8, #16, #18 players out of Texas, along with a 12 ppg guy from Utah is a bottom-feeder class? Seems like a really nice class to me.

bigabd- that is going to be a tough class to go to war with in the Big 12. Tech is going to have a hard time winning games in the big12 minus Colorado and Nebraska. Iowa State is upgrading their talent quickly and Oklahoma will do so as well.

I think Tech will be bringing up the bottom of the league. And I question if the commitment is there. I think basketball is an afterthought to those guys. They seem more concerned with reigniting their women's program.

willis is supposed to be really good. and i've heard that petteway has been overlooked. some people really like him.

the rest seem like below average big 12 recruits.

i completely agree. it was a bad situation for knight. maybe he took it, thinking it was his only chance, but he was set up to fail.

I saw Pettaway play about a year ago, he didnt seem to have the ability to play the 3 at the time (put it on the floor and quickness). He seems like the type that could grow into it, but with the need for instant impact Knight doesn't have the time.

Even if Pettaway is a steal the rest of the class is still more of a mid major type than Big 12. You have to compare it to the type of class their competitors are bringing it and not just fluff up the players like they're in the own bubble. I really doubt Baylor, UT and A&M would trade the players they have for Tech's ragtag bunch.

Lets look at Texas' class.
5 star PG Myck Kabongo (24)
4 star SG Sheldon McCellan (52) (2nd in Texas)
4 star PF Jonathon Holmes (83) (3rd in Texas)
4 star SG Julien Lewis (96)

Texas A&M
4 star Jamal Branch (67) (5th in Texas)
3 star Jordan Green (114) (11th in Texas)

Baylor
None yet, but with the amount of talent they're in on and Drews recent success they will out class Tech's bunch.

Tech isn't gaining any ground on their in state rivals and the conference is getting a lot tougher with the departure of two of their fellow historic doormats in CU and Nebraska leaving. It is real shaping up that Tech and Iowa St could potential becoming locked in for a battle for 9th.

Heck last year coming off the worse season in over 25 years Oklahoma put together a better class than Knight did...

If OU brought in that class you would be saying how bad of a job Caple is doing and talking about us finishing 9th or 10th in the conference next year. But somehow they are world beaters at Tech? Come on man

PG: Javarez Willis (5'11'' 175)- #74 player in 2010 class. One of the better shooters in the class. #12 player in Texas in 2009. Had a 10 three pointer game and an 18 three pointer game in high school.

SG: Marshall Henderson (6'2'' 170)- All-time leader in Div. 5A in the state of Texas in made three-pointers (429).. Mountain West Honorable Mention as a freshman. Averaged 11ppg for Utah.

SF: Terran Petteway (6'6'' 185)- #8 player in Texas. Very energetic athlete, attacks the rim, always around the ball, quick to the boards, finishes with spring at the rim, nice stroke from 18 feet.

PF: Jaye Crockett (6'7'' 205)- Averaged 29 and 12 in high school. Crockett is very athletic and possesses an extra long wing span. He excels in transition where he finishes above the rim. He is a good ball handler and passer. upside factor could be off the charts. - ESPN

C: Robert Lewandowski (6'10'' 260)- Had 8 games in double figures in conference as a freshman. Decent big guy.

Bench: Toddrick Gotcher, Mike Davis, Jamel Outler, Paul Cooper, Jordan Tolbert

I just don't see a talent problem here... On paper, that looks pretty competitive in comparison to other teams in the league at that time (starting in 2011-2012). 4 of those 5 guys will be experienced when this lineup would take place.

Maybe its not, who knows... Everyone looks good on paper right now, because most D-1 players had impressive high school careers.

Please tell me OU will do better than that! :facepalm

I think OU is done recruiting this year....

Richard Peters: 3 star
Robert Goff: 3 star

I don't think OU has any more scholarships unless there is a transfer or something, which there probably will be. I would guess two more scholarships open up, but I think sam, gparker, or dm would have more information on that.

If the class is done, it fills needs. They need size and athletic ability in the paint, and those two guys fit the bill. It wont wow anyone, but OU needs what they bring.

Peters reclassified as a 2012, happened about a year ago. Been covered on this board multiple times. Not sure how you can keep up with all these other schools and neglect Peters....

abd...come on now...

If you provide that much intricate detail about minor basketball schools in the Big 12, your knowledge of Oklahoma recruiting better be darn near encyclopedic.

You're better than this, abd. Smh

Well, I forgot about Peters because Rivals shows him as 2011 and it slipped my mind.

Lol, well, the OU guys are covered in great length on this board so they don't need so much detail.

Not a bad class for Tech.

What I like most about the "new" Big 12 is that two "gimmies" in NU and CU [and yes I know, we've lost a few to those cats lately] have now been replaced with home and home for the remaining teams, all of who can hang thier hat on being competitive in hoops.

Why are you so angry?

I, for one, appreciate ABD'S posts. They are always chock full of facts, and filled to the brim with statistics...

So you're say that because other people cover OU you don't need to know about your own team? The one you cheer for?
