The NBA Playoffs/Thunder/Blake Thread

1. Brooks is a mediocre coach, at best.

He's the guy before the guy. Acclimated some young guys to the NBA, allowed them to make mistakes...but his ship has sailed. It really sailed last year, but got a pass with the RW injury.

2. Durant appears to be shrinking from the situation at hand. Never seen him miss so many open jumpers. And then his last shot of the game was a Westbrook style poor decision. Other great players were eviscerated for playoff performances like Durant has had and some had better performances than Durant and were still eviscerated. Time for Durant to receive some heat?

Absolutely deserves criticism. The thought that some people considered him close to Lebron is comical, at best.

3. Westbrook is the most confounding player in the NBA. He goes from making poor decisions with the basketball to being brilliant to making poor decisions to being brilliant again.

Haha, most maddening player I have ever watched. All the tools are there, except his brain is getting in the way.

It doesn't matter if they somehow pull this series win outta their a$$! They will NOT be anywhere near the finals. And that's all that matters.

i don't really agree with this. Memphis gives us fits b/c of their defense. Any other series in the west the thunder will match up better against imo

.

oh come on. the dude is very close to lebron. He has struggled this series no doubt but he is clearly the second best in the league and close to lebron. I believe lebron also had struggles in the playoffs at durants age. I see nothing comical with saying a guy that averaged 32 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5.5 apg while shooting 50%+ FG and 39% from 3 is close to lebron. And his defense has improved each year too.

For someone whose has had such a horrible series, he is still averaging 28, 10 and 4. pretty damn good. problem is that he is shooting like **** and alot of the shots are jumpers. it's a mental thing now.

Stats, stats, stats.

Games are won on stats, you have to make winning plays. Lebron trumps KD in this category. You say KD's defense has improved each year, where is it in these playoffs? The Grizz are getting layups half the time.

Ah! Someone that gets it. From all of your previous post, I should have known all along.

Westbrook's steal/dunk to tie the game late in the fourth quarter was a thing of beauty. That was a winning play.

Some poor defense in overtime was what ultimately did the Thunder in in overtime.

IMO they haven't played well in quite some time, in spite of their record. Their defense is almost non-existant.

Agreed, how many times did some no name have a career night against the thunder

And since when is one series all that matters in evaluating a player?

What is funny is that KD trumps Lebron in the clutch department. It's one bad series

Actually, that play was the result of a rookie coach and no go to guy for Memphis. The Thunder were down 2 with no timeouts and only a 4 second difference between game and shot clock. What does Memphis do? They call a timeout with 20 seconds left. WTF?!?!

At that stage all you do is hold the ball until a couple seconds before the shot clock, make 1 pass and heave up a jumper. If you catch rim the game is over. The last thing you want to do is give OKC coaches a chance to coach up the team on exactly what needs to happen. What you want is chaos and the clock expiring.

Thunder are doing exactly what is to be expected of a jump shooting team in the playoffs. Going cold. Anybody acting surprised hasn't watched much NBA basketball.

If you can't initiate your offense and pass out of the post you're days in the NBA playoffs are always numbered.

Jumps shots stop falling. Driving lanes get sealed. More contact is allowed. It's nothing new.

This Thunder team is the Mavs before Dirk developed his post up game . Kendrick Perkins = Shawn Bradley. Different, but just as ineffective.

lol @ the Thunder with the line they are emulating the Spurs. The George Gervin Spurs maybe.

Have to love the Thunder homers

no homerism. The stats support it for the regular season. And really KD has been clutch in the playoffs too except this series. You won't find anybody that says KD isn't the second best player in the league and most people will say he is close to lebron

who said anything about top playoff perforamnces? I certainly didn't

You said "clutch".

I have seen nothing from Durant like what James did in the ECF against the Pistons in 2007, if you want to talk about "clutch". Let alone carry his team to a NBA title.

You can post all you want about Durant averaging 28.0 ppg in this series, but anyone with two eyes knows it isn't an efficiencent 28.0ppg. He is shooting 40% from the field, 28.6% from 3 point range, and 71.8% from the FT line. On top of that, he is averaging 4.0 turnovers/game.

Just like Westbrook has been putting up big numbers, but far from efficient with his 34.4% shooting percentage.

How about the clown theory that Joey Crawford somehow iced Durant on that free throw? lol It caused him to shoot it 8 inches left of center.

Oh wait did james win the title in 2007? weird b/c I thought you had to win the title to be clutch.

Again, the whole argument is that camp said it was laughable to say that durant was close to lebron. It isn't. The clutch thing was just supporting evidence. Before two years ago, everybody said lebron wasn't clutch enough to win a title. now he is. Go sift through KDs playoff games. When a series is on the line, he usually has great games. And to clarify, when I was saying clutch I was talking about game winning or tying shots.
