The Right Track

Lattin is better defensively, but not so much better as to justify him playing over McNeace. They're both bad defenders, one can at least catch lobs, and play with his back to the basket on the offensive end.

I totally agree

What game are you watching? Lattin's defense is awful, just putrid. Might as well put in the guy that can at least score.

He isn't good against bangers but he's a good team defender. His positioning & vocalness alone make him a much better defender than McNeace. Now I agree McNeace is way better offensively, but those who say that Lattin is a terrible defender are way off base.

I’ll say it, Lattin is a terrible defender. He’s a post player who can’t defend the post nor can he defend the perimeter. He’s a one trick pony, a guy that can come from the weak side and block shots...sometimes. When he doesn’t get the block he is out of position. I would rather he stay home, get fewer blocks and not allow so many layups and offensive rebounds.

LOL. Opinions about Lattin and Mcneese are pretty much polar opposites. But every poster on both sides of the argument knows without a doubt that he/she is right.

Seems to me that both players are quite capable of having both good and bad games. I'd say it's a game-to-game who gets the minutes. Lon should go with whoever's playing best.

I disagree, I think you go with the guy that can score with his back to the basket in the post. (Also, not to get pedantic but I've seen it misspelled at least 137 billion times on this message board. His name is M-c-N-e-a-c-e.)

Thanks for pointing that out. I, too, prefer to see names spelled correctly, proper grammar used and hyperbole (137 billion?) kept to a minimum. :)

Lattin's positioning is poor. His slight build also allows him to get pushed back towards the basket. I will give you that he is a slightly better team defender than Muni. Muni has never learned to play the pick and roll properly.....and Lattin plays it a little better more consistently. But if anyone says that Lattin overall is a good defender, well I'm not sure what games they are watching.

They're watching the games where he was voted all big 12 1st team defense, all time blocks leader, & holds big 12 defensive records.
