I’ve seen some valid concerns about his ball handling so far and I want to direct your attention to a young man from a few years ago from money earnin Mount Vernon named Isiah Cousins. As a freshman, his handles left a lot to be desired (recall the game against Tech where he was ripped in the open floor repeatedly for dunks). He went on to be one smooth operator with the ball in his hands leading us to a final four.

I think Bijan will be fine and one thing that we have now (That we also had back then on Steve Henson) is a terrific skills teacher in Porter Moser.

Excited about the future guys

Anyone who has watched him play and worried about his handles is not watching him. He can really handle the ball. Ball protection needs to be improved, but some of that is trying to learn the speed of the game and all the extra stuff you are trying to do as a college PG while having an elite defender draped all over you.

Some of it is learning your own tendencies and adding variables so you don't become predictable. That pass from the top of the key to the corner is a great example. It's not working ... have to learn to give it up.

I say this as a guy who hates turnovers with a passion — I just am not worried much about Bijan in this area. He is a good handler who occasionally gets sped up and reckless. Those are “young” turnovers that I can live with, both because he is being aggressive and because they are likely to be significantly reduced as he gets older. FWIW, Moser said after the game that he was very happy with how he played last night. Coaches can live with some turnovers more than others, and it’s never easy to play a low turnover game in Morgantown, especially for a frosh.

He made a freshman mistake, pivoting and turning his back to the defender and got ripped by a WVU guard. Happens, just can't happen twice.

Goldwire is way more reckless with the ball and he has a ton more experience.

this has been one of the biggest disappointments thus far this season

he really needs to clean it up

I think he's just not comfortable running this type of offense. It requires a LOT of decisions at the top of the key.
