Tiny's quotes on the situation

I don't believe it would be against the rules for the OU admissions office to call Oak Hill about transcripts

Why would the coach need to check the status on a loan?

umm, don't you think they might be interested if everything was done by the books? Who should they call to make sure that the loan was done in a proper way, Tiny or the people making the loan?

It is painfully obvious that you are a troll. Please get lost.

Do you not understand the fact that the loan does not pertain in any way to OU? The University of Oklahoma is not a bank. They are not in the business to arrange loans, or "make sure they are done in a proper way."

It is painfully obvious that you don't care that OU is now no different than the school in Blue Chips.

It is also painfully obvious that you don't mind casting a 'guilty' vote right after opening arguments. Why waste time waiting for the evidence when you can convict right away, right? If a defender has been brought into court, he must be guilty.

Right on the money, Glory. There is not even another way to look at this.

If it was a loan, the coaching staff shouldnt contact a financial advisor 66 times about a small personal loan to pay tuition, lol. It has nothing to do with OU in any way.

Seriously people...SIXTY SIX FREAKING TIMES??!!

I'm not sure what evidence could be brought forth that would explain that level of contact between an assistant basketball coach in Norman and a financial advisor in Florida.

You guys don't get it. NO ONE is disputing THIS. What most ARE disputing is whether this could be considered a payment to a prospect to gain their signature. Glory has implied that and apparently believes OU and it's coaches are paying players (see the Blue Chips reference).

Did a coach break an NCAA rule? Probably. Does it amount to paying a player? We'll see.

EDIT: You guys are also VERY naive to believe coaches/universities don't "help" players with more than just on-court/field activities.

Glory, I have no idea if you are an OU grad, or a real OU fan.

I will say that if you take the fact that prior to this Tiny situation, you only found the passion to post on this board about the NBA, and add to this, the fact that well over half of your posts on this board are slamming OU, I would say that is at least as much evidence that you are not an OU fan or grad, as there is evidence that OU Athletics did something wrong here.

The only facts that matter is the fact that there is a direct link via phone calls and text messages between an OU assistant coach and a financial adviser who wired money to the mother of an OU student athlete.

And the financial advisor, via twitter, said he was in Norman in July 2009 and met WW as well. Then he twittered again he was in Norman in January to watch his boys WW and Tiny.

Maybe they became friends? Lovers? Gambling buddies? Maybe he was selling OT drugs on the side? Maybe he was giving OT interior design suggestions? Or maybe they were, in fact, arranging payment under the table to a top prospect?

There is no way to know without the texts.

The guy was obviously a jock sniffer. Time will tell, if he was giving money to WW and Tiny, too.

He was a financial advisor. He found his way somehow into the life of two individuals who he, and most of us, felt would soon be millionaires. He saw dollar signs in his future. Just like an agent. I'm sure these guys are everywhere. The mistake came with OT building a relationship with the guy. And that's why OT is gone.

If the financial advisor would have gave Tiny money and OT wasn't involved with or knew the guy at all then OU wouldn't be in a mess. Coaches have to know better and again that is why OT is gone. A college can't control players...they can control their coaches.

So if the coaching staff finds out about a loan after the fact, and wants to make sure there weren't any rules violations, you don't expect they are going to investigate? Again, there is no evidence to suggest this is what happened, but it is just as plausible given the facts as what you are suggesting.

I know I'm not going to convince you off the ledge, and if it turns out that there isn't much more to the story, and no more punishments are handed down, you'll be the first in line screaming cover-up, so there isn't much point in this stupidity.

There are a few regulars on here that need to quit allowing themselves to be suckered into this guys crap. I expect better from you.

Then it would be calls from the compliance office, not an assistant coach.

I'm not on a ledge, but it sounds like all of the excuse makers are.

Why did OT resign?

Geebus man, come on.

Let me make sure I understand. Is the hand that's in the cookie jar the same hand that has the smoking gun it it? If so, wouldn't that make it hard to get a cookie?

Not if the jar was manufactured with a gun in it. Sort of like those tiny ships in a bottle. You just reach your hand in the jar where the cookies and the smoking gun are all located in the same exact spot! Efficiency!
