Tiny's quotes on the situation

Would you like to see my diploma? Are you an OU alum? You certainly don't sound like one.

"Fans" don't care if their team is caught cheating as long as they win, or in this case, even if they have a losing record.

Alumni get angry when their school starts piling up a lengthy list of infractions. Alums that actually care about their alma mater also will not make excuses about the infractions, they will want to know why it happened and what will be done so that it won't happen again.

Non-alums (me) that actually care about OU will not make excuses about the infractions. Sorry, but if TMZ finds this stuff out then why can't our compliance office do the same? The reaction by Joe C. and OU is, generally, correct with letting players and/or coaches go. BUT, it shouldn't get to that point in the first place or, at least, should be found by our own department.

p.s. Not saying that you were implying that non-alums don't care.

Seriouosly, you are upset because TMZ reported something, and the athletic department hadn't told you about it first?

It's rediculous I tell you. Since when did TMZ become the all knowing authority on truth? Besides that, the only thing they reported was that Tiny got money from a financial institution, and later had more contact with him. If you are reading more into it than that, then your looking for something to complain about.

Until someone who is actually involved in the investigation comes out with some facts, why sling mud based on a TMZ report that is so short on facts and information, it is basically worthless.

You're assuming that our compliance dept didn't know about it until the TMZ report? You must not pay attention to Sooner basketball very much. Tiny was "suspended" for unknown reasons during the season. MOST people believe this was due to the $3K...

Uh, relax a little dude/dudette. I'm not upset. I didn't say TMZ was the all knowing authority, but, in this case, they obviously found something that needed to be found regardless of the intent of the 'infraction'. Were the phone records of OT that have already been released by OU not enough of a paper trail for you? It DOES NOT matter what OT's intentions were. He has been linked to a financial advisor with links to a current, now former, player.

By the way, if the athletic department found it first I would have more confidence in the compliance department. Are you saying you think OU knew about this before the TMZ report?

Yes I do, and I agree that MOST people believed that suspension was due to the 3K, however, if it was why in the world OU allow Tiny back on the court?

We could sit here and speculate the bejeezus out of this. Who knows? Maybe the NCAA approved of the situation since ANYONE can get a loan. I TRULY believe OU has known about this for a LONG time (months). There's is ZERO chance TMZ knew about this before them - ZERO.

If it turns out that Tiny needed a loan to get his transcripts, and his mom cosigned for him, then coach O contacted the loan officer to make sure everything was on the up and up, there will be a truckload of people on this board screaming cover-up.

I have no idea if this is anywhere close to what happened, but niether do any of you. Based on speculation about rumors, and hearsay, there are a bunch of people wanting to fire the entire athletic department. This is absolutely rediculous, and i can't believe it has been allowed to go on for this long.

There is not one good reason for Talifero to contact the loan officer. The $3,000 that was owed to Oak Hill is not the concern of OU. That is between the Gallon's, Oak Hill and the financial institution loaning the money.

I cannot believe some of you think this is not a big deal and it can be explained. OU's hand was literally caught in the cookie jar holding a smoking gun.l

I agree with you that he SHOULDN'T have done it, but I believe that situation to be FAR different than him arranging for the loan. Don't you? I bet the NCAA does as well.

Let me make sure I understand. Is the hand that's in the cookie jar the same hand that has the smoking gun it it? If so, wouldn't that make it hard to get a cookie?

No.

You are kidding yourself if you think the NCAA is going to believe any of OU's excuses.

That's part of the territory with being OU unfortunately. The NCAA will always believe what ever lies USC, Miami, Kentucky, etc. give them.

I assume they, unlike you, want to look at the facts. I'm betting they don't accept much of what OU says. I'm BETTING they compare dates on phone records with dates on loan apps, etc to get a feel for what REALLY happened (you know that's what is important when trying to determine guilt or innocence - not sure you would agree, but that's how it's SUPPOSED to be)...

The only facts that matter is the fact that there is a direct link via phone calls and text messages between an OU assistant coach and a financial adviser who wired money to the mother of an OU student athlete.

You're just plain WRONG. Are you saying that they would view a coach arranging a loan in the same light as him checking on the status of a loan? I'm not saying that's what happened AT ALL, but we don't know that. I've agreed that if the former happened, then we have BIG problems. YOU, on the other hand, are just a doom-and-gloomer OR you work for OU or the NCAA. Which is it?

Why would the coach need to check the status on a loan?

Then he would need to call Oak Hill.

Unless that is against the NCAA rules for contacting high schools, since there is a limit on phone calls.. And before you argue that point you do know the NCAA has some very strict and stupid rules about phone calls
