Cousins, Woodard help Sooners.......

Really not sure which on of these I think is more important to OU this year - but, for me, both have been disappointing so far. Both looked like freshman against Creighton and both played better against an out-manned NW State team.

So which is it - savvy upperclassmen or skiddish freshmen?

I know too early to tell for the season, but....

This is what I will be watching this week. If Woodard is 4 x 1 or better in his TO to assist ratio and Cousins can average 12 - 15 points a game - I think OU has a real chance to be very good.

Lol, 4:1 or better from Woodard? That would only be one of the best seasons in Big 12 history.

I actually had a typo there, I meant 3 to 1 - my bad, but four people had 4-1 assist ratios last year in the nation, including a freshman PG in the Big 12 last year - Monte Morris at ISU.

Van Fleet did it at WSU last year as well.

Cousins has been okay. Outside of Hield all our guards and most of our big guys played bad offensively against Creighton. Woodard has been bad at PG most of this year. If he gets going the offense will be fine because of how he played last year. Really the only bad thing about his game last year was key misses late in games, and usually at the line. He was like a 90% FT shooter in non clutch situations and about a 20% when it was late in a game. Eventually Woodard has to get going. He did have a few nice plays the other night. Still doesn't offset the overall poor performance most of the rest of the game though.

I'm confident that Jordan will step up his game. We saw signs of it Sunday, even though he had more turnovers than I'd like. Still, a point guard who can make the passes that Woodard's capable of is going to turn the ball over occasionally. I really think some of us are making too big an issue of it, at least this early in the season.
