Dragging this out and "pretending" to have a legitimate interest in OU will only intensify the backlash. If indeed that is what they're doing, someone is giving them bad advice.

I truly hope that is not what is going on here. It's bad enough to make Coach Kruger wait and maybe miss out on an adequate replacement he could have signed in the early period. Making him wait when the interest wasn't genuine would be the biggest cut of all.

I think the hypothetical idea is he'd be closer to being out of Dodge by then.

Every poster who is so confidently saying there's no chance Trae chooses OU knows exactly what all our other posters know: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Whatever decision this kid ultimately makes, it will be a huge relief to me and I'm sure many others.

yeah. this is my thing too. he's a young kid so I dont scorn him for it or anything. I'd just rather have a team-first guy even if not nearly so heralded. Someone who has excellent handles. and after that who can drop a dime or two and play on-ball defense. But first I want the handles.

His high school coach, Brian Merritt, is an old classmate of mine from High School. I am still buddies with one of Merritt's buddies who told me it was an OU or KU race. Everybody else is out of it and he is very much torn between the 2. That was about 2 weeks ago when I last spoke to him and I can guarantee you that's coming straight from his high school coach. Another old buddy of mine (he went to high school with us too), who was my roommate at OU, his son plays on that Norman North team. I have not spoken with him about it but I guess I need too.

So, the guy who's saying this:

He isn't coming here and Lon is fooled.

I'm 99.9% sure of this -- no way is OSU or Kentucky in it. Your info is outdated. I don't know if he's going to pick OU or KU but OSU and Kentucky have ZERO chance with a capital Z.

I just realized a few days ago who is his dad, Rayford Young. He was a heck of a basketball player. Seems like he wanted to play at OU but Kelvin didn't recruit him but I may be confused with someone else.
