@EvanDaniels: Five-star point guard Trae Young won't be signing early, per his father. Wants to watch the schools recruiting him during the season.

That's kind of been his stance all along. He wants to win now when he's on campus. We need to have a good year. Still think he comes here. He likes the attention.

I think this shows he's leaning towards OU. He knows Kentucky will recruit and get players and most of the guys on their team this year will not be there next year. I think he wants to see how OU's team looks and will they be able to compete at a high level if he replaces Woodard.

Not surprised but this is disappointing. I'm sure LK holds his scholarship but at some point you have to sign somebody. We've already let a couple of guys go for him.

My money is on OU but he is going to Kentucky's opening night event. It will be impressive and they will be opportunity for him to profit.

Could be he waiting to see how good Kentucky's guards they sign. Which I'm sure will be outstanding

I'm disappointed, too. But, I'll be even more disappointed if LK fails to fill such an important roster spot with a point guard worthy of the players we'll have in 2017 and beyond. With the right floor leader on our roster in that class, I think another final four run is a realistic possibility. If not next year, the following season.

It's not like Coach Kruger to let a recruit call the shots. So, I'm hoping he has a solid "Plan B" to make sure that spot is filled if Trae opts for another school.

Can you elaborate on "opportunity for him to profit"

If you want to go after 5* top 10 recruits, you have to let them call the shots because they have all the leverage.

Makes sense, especially if he prefers OU. Wouldn't you want to be sure you were going to be surrounded by a good team? I honestly think this is a good sign for OU, even if it's not what we preferred.

Oh, I know you're right about giving 5 star recruits more room to make a decision. I still don't like it when OU could be at the short end if he picks another school.

For someone in Trae's position, this seems like the intelligent approach. This is an indication that he is a smart young man. What's the hurry? Watch the teams you are interested in to see how they develop during the season.

OU's approach of "Trae or bust" is also is fine by me.

So if Young chooses Kentucky what does OU do at PG next year? The late signee from North Carolina?

Other targets currently will likely sign early. Hopefully a couple won't. We could have had 1 4 star but we are waiting.

I for one am growing weary about Young dragging this thing out. He knows everything he needs to know about the OU system, knows the players, etc. Hopefully he's being honest with the coaches about where he stands ......

I just don't want to get left out of a good PG if he picks Kentucky or KU in April.

Why should he not let the season play out? Why would you not want to see where each program is at the end of the season? Most of his future teammates at OU are getting their first real playing time this year, I for one would want to see if those guys can play when the lights are on before I signed a binding contract.

The system is terrible and forces kids to make decisions way before they should have to. Trae is fortunate enough to be one of the kids with leverage who can let things play out.

Agree. Feels like if he goes elsewhere it will place OU in a bind with PG recruiting. Doesn't matter how Kentucky does this year. They'll all be gone next year anyway..

I'm with you, usedtobe1.

I get why kids like Trae want to make the most of their opportunity to pick the right school and enjoy the recruiting process. Most here, including me, would agree that he's worth the wait. The question is, will we still feel that way if he picks another school and OU misses out on a quality PG who would have signed a LOI in November?

I feel the opposite I guess to most on here. I feel he should pick and help his new school recruit. Who ever it is. Plus it holds the losing schools hostage when they could be spending their time and effort on someone else. No disrespect toward any recruit...just the way I feel.
