Transfer Portal 2025

She visited. I think someone said they had a problem on her visit with 1 coach that is no longer at OU.

I feel like we could have a separate thread just for recruits here in Oklahoma, really for every sport lol

But they do tend to recruit and offer most of the in state prospects, but you can’t make anyone have an interest in you if they don’t. Some we’ve made the finals for and some never look our way

We were interested in Hjemstad and offered her but we were not one of her 8 finalists

The amount of money players in the portal are getting is crazy. Top 10 women are getting 500-800K. That just doesn't seem sustainable. If kneepkens goes to UCLA, its for the money. If she goes to South Carolina, she really wants the sure ring. Texas...well that just would not make sense unless they backed up a truck for her too. Vic's system is about defense...which is not the direction the WNBA is going. They want players to score and play D. I would love her in our system, but it may be too crowded. Jennie has not had a scoring point gaurd since she got here. In the past few years we really relied heavily on Vann/Keys scoring from the outside and when that didn't work we suffered. Let's not underestimate the Chavez effect in Norman...she's going to get up her 3's. couple that with Verhulst/Beers/Williams...we really need a solid 4 that can rebound more than another scoring guard. Little Vann is a dam good shooter and I still feel Keziah is going to surprise many. Get us an athletic 4 to help support Brooklyn as she develops.

Wow… I can’t help but wonder what is OU WBB doing in the portal??? Like. Im very disappointed right now. There were some good options in the portal and only 1 was here on a visit and committed elsewhere.

Shhh, the sycophants on here will bash you for questioning Jennie on anything because she got Chavez.

She put all her eggs in that one basket, and we see how it turned out. OU is not a top 5 roster in the SEC right now, IMO. Might be worse than last year, given what other schools have gotten.

Ole Miss and Tennessee have really used the portal to upgrade their roster. We know Texas, LSU, and South Carolina will be tough. Very disappointing but not surpried GK is going to UCLA.

whatever strategy this is I don’t like it, at all, you needed to add a couple of impact players this transfer cycle to fully maximize the players you do have

You had one cancel her visit here and your top priority visited but didn’t choose you, that’s bad

Now, Emely Rodriguez & Ndjakenga seem like MUST haves and who knows how strongly they’re pursuing them

Just frustrating man, like do better
Shows Jennie has a lot to learn about big-boy basketball. The SEC is getting better through the portal, and OU, well, is staying the same. Losing the money game, not being proactive in the Portal, focusing only on one player, etc.

Obviously not the portal, but adding Chavez (top 3 recruit in the nation) is not "staying the same" with what they had at the 1-2 spots last year.

Currently the starting lineup would most likely be:

Chavez, Vann, Williams, Verhulst and Beers- they don't currently have much depth with only Smith and Culliton as returning players and adding Lofton and Stewart as the two other freshmen but there is plenty of time left at this point.

IMO it's a little premature to make comments like "Jennie has a lot to learn about big-boy basketball". Especially if you aren't in the know about what they have been doing or what they are doing to improve the roster.

You can’t spend money you don’t have. I wonder how many people criticizing JB’s portal success have given to a NIL fund.

Perception is reality in the SEC. Is the talent on the roster, as a whole, better? No. No one in the portal right now will help that for OU. All those athletes are committed elsewhere, most to SEC schools who OU will get to play. Chavez will likely be a transfer target for the big-time teams next year, due to how bad the roster management in Norman is shaping up to be.

Ha! That's funny! Didn't know you were a comedian!

You went after Moser on the men's side as well until he had a top 5 SEC (if not better) portal class.

I don’t know how all these other women’s programs have the ability to spend a couple million on women’s basketball and we are so limited. How are we so much different than these other programs when we have a financially successful football program to tap into and are also in the SEC

Are we that strapped in NIL?

I was under the impression that the Aaliyah Chavez money came from somewhere else, a donor, outside of our NIL budget

Did not know we were pinching pennies but that would explain why we haven’t made moves in the portal I guess
