Transfer Portal 2025

pay a kid, any kid, who has never pkayed a minute of college basketball and if i am peyton, beers or sahara i am going to the portal if I don’t get more. I don’t care how good chavez is paying her would destroy the program forever

This is the very reason patty dropped out of the race for canady.

All it takes is one WBB fan with deep pockets to get it done. Suppose it’s possible.
Genuine question for anyone in the know. Do the donors get to write off their NIL donations? As someone who has never even sniffed that amount of money, that’s an area of the tax code I’m not overly familiar with. Even with my finance degree.

I’m not a tax attorney, but NIL isn’t a donation. Technically you’re paying them to endorse a product or service. I assume it’s a contract so they would be contract employees.

And the team has been good for four seasons and ranked throughout this season with several weeks in the Top 10. This is not like Canady going to Tech in softball where she obviously went purely for the dough. Both OU and texas, if they are in fact the leaders, have very good programs.

But it's very much like the Canady/Tech situation in that OU would need a BMD who's a women's hoops fan to step up big time.

i think nil donations started out being tax deductible....but they had to be funneled thru the school or a non-profit...
then the irs stepped in and said not so fast....and closed the loophole
but i could be wrong ...

From my understanding (which isn’t worth much) 1Oklahoma is not tax deductible. But if you are a business paying a player to do an advertisement, the expense would be a business expense and offset income.

the schwieger twins from valpo would be at the top of my list if available, but i am a terrible scout. howard from drake, too.
