Transfer Portal 2025

Nobody is bragging but it's a ton better then what's happened the prior 3 years where it's a total rebuild and we're bringing in guys from low mids to fill starting spots on the team. There are least some pieces to build on this year with Forsythe, Wague, Jones and Nwanko plus the 2 All Conference level transfers.
I’m very happy with the two guys we got but it’s way premature to think either of them will be all conference level players in the SEC. Davis wasn’t even honorable mention in a terrible ACC this season. It’s a much better start than the low level guys last year, but let’s not get carried away.

I agree. Pack has a decent shot to be all sec, but I would not expect Tae by any means. He could still be very good and not make all sec. It’s a great start.

I certainly hope ou gets at least another starter level player out of the portal, too. The sec is loading up again in the portal, so ou needs to as well.

I expect them to both average around the mid-teens next year, which will cover most of what Fears/Moore did. I think Jones has a decent chance to match Duke’s average of 8-9 ppg. Woogie has the potential to avg 10 & 7 if he can stay out of foul trouble. Nwankwo is the one I can’t get a read on. He could be a 6 or 7 ppg type of guy, but at the same time I wouldn’t be shocked to see him score in the 10-13 ppg range. Dayton’s role should increase greatly and he can score when needed. I’d still like to add another decent big and another 1-2 guards, with at least of them being a shooter. I’d be content with Campbell being one of them. I love his defense. And I wouldn’t mind the big being Bol. He has the ability to be the rim protector we have lacked for several years. He was a McDonalds AA and will only be a soph, so worth the chance to me. But if it is McGriff, I’d be very happy with that.

You expect Davis to increase his scoring output going from the weakest power conference in the country to the best conference in America? And Pack to match what a lottery pick averaged this year? I would guess Davis’ numbers will come down to more like 11-12 ppg.

Mid teens = 14-16 ppg. Yes, I expect both to be in that range. Both will get plenty of shot opportunities to do such. I realize Davis played in a weaker conference, but he will also improve as a player…Pack should get better too. Nothing I said is too outlandish to believe. Not everything needs to be an argument.

I’m guessing pre-season this year you didn’t expect Fears or Moore to avg what they did.

Kinda hard to argue this dosen't feel better than at this time last year. Not saying much...but undeniable truth.
Completely disagree. The two we got are a level above what we got last year outside of Fears. What we don’t know is how much of the resources were spent getting those two. If it’s most, then we could be screwed. If it’s half, we are likely still good. If it’s 1/3, then we have a good chance at being a lot better by adding a few more good pieces.

I’ve said all along, land guys and recruit over them. That’s the game these days.

land guys and recruit over them" is catchy but you're not going to recruit over pack/davis with 1/3-1/2 of your budget already spent"

Davis is a solid replacement for Moore. Can’t complain there. Pack is a definite upgrade from Elvis. Things are better this year. Only thing they really NEED is another knockdown shooter. Goodine type.

Davis averaged 15 ppg last year. Wouldn't be crazy for him to average that again with another year of seasoning under his belt. He has increased his average every year.

Now WILL he? Maybe not....I'm just saying it wouldn't be crazy.

Pack I could see averaging 15 if he's healthy. But if he averages anything close I'm good

I will not be surprised to see some colleges start to import players from overseas on student visas. Because if they enter the portal for more money you can revoke it and get them deported .. like some software firms.
That bold part is not true. They'd just have to find a new sponsor, which is what their new school would be.
