The notes in that link tell us a ton about the scheduling philosophies of Lon as opposed to Moser. Seven of our first 10 games away from home. Only two home games in 45 days. What a concept.![]()
Sooners and Gophers Clash in South Dakota - University of Oklahoma
After an 18-point win to open the 2019-20 season, Oklahoma (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) hits the road for the first time this year with a two-game neutral site trip. Fi...soonersports.com
you right! AR15
IMO, in Moser's offensive sets, not a lot of difference in the 3 or the 4. Jalon had as many wing and corner three opportunities as Goodine, but often drove it instead. Only really changes on the matchup defensively, but we switch almost everything anyway. could have been how PM and the staff sold it to Reid. From Lusk:
A source tells me it’s a three-horse race for Derrion Reid: NC State, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. I was told it would be a complete shock if Reid were to return to Alabama, so I don’t view them as a serious contender at this point. We’ll see if he ends up taking a visit to Ole Miss.
As for his visit to Oklahoma, multiple sources said it went well, though Reid is a bit hard to read. One consistent note: Reid wants to play the three at his next stop. And for those questioning his ability to space the floor — he shot 42% from three across EYBL and his senior year at Prolific Prep.
But that's just it. He won't have to play "inside" here regardless of the 3 or the 4.If he chooses OU, it will be interesting to see how Porter uses him. At the 4, he has Davis and Atak (assuming he is good enough to give us some minutes) and Jeff can slide over as needed. At the perimeter positions, he has 5 players that look pretty good. If he plays Pack and Brown, then he really only has one perimeter spot and I have been assuming this would be manned by Jones and Jeff. I was hoping Reid was the rugged rebounder to play at the 4 with Davis, or at the 5, with Wague and Rogers. But, if he doesn't want to play inside, we might not have the minutes to make him happy.
We didn’t finish 12th. We finished 14th and lack of a quality big had a LOT to do with that.6’10 from Montana state isn’t as good. Not athletically for the SEC.
if you think only a quality big is why we finished 12th. Then that’s new…
Fact is we weren't good enough at guard either. Outside of Fears we got very little compared to the rest of the conference. We could have easily been better if we paid Oweh and Uzan and maybe got a Padilla along with Fears could have easily gotten something like that if we probably offered around what we are with this upcoming roster. We didn’t finish 12th. We finished 14th and lack of a quality big had a LOT to do with that.
Players getting paid at every school was the demise of KU this year. Its all about who you can guard. Very few run a traditional 2 post.. Closest probably is KU (demise of KU this year).
I don’t believe that for two seconds. Not even 1 second actually. He’s not worth half of that. Can you imagine Oweh is supposedly getting $3.5 million to stay at Kentucky next year and skip the draft
All logic goes out the window with NIL.I don’t believe that for two seconds. Not even 1 second actually. He’s not worth half of that.
Seems like they could negotiate that down considering he's expected to go undrafted, e.g. Top 100Can you imagine Oweh is supposedly getting $3.5 million to stay at Kentucky next year and skip the draft
Bad shooters don’t shoot 42% from 3 at any level. And I don’t think taking Reid has any bearing on how Porter feels about Jones or Nwankwo. He’s just trying to add the best players possible and let the positions fall where they may. Jones can play the 2, and Jeff can play the 4, etc. when you’re playing 4 or 5 out, none of that matters a lot. The key will be what position will Reid be guarding on D. My guess is, not the 3.Seeing people cite high school shooting numbers always makes me cringe. Was always laughable when announcers referred to Luke as a good shooter, as he lugged his sub-30% career mark around -- after all, he hit them in high school!
Disclaimer -- maybe this guy can also shoot, but his high school and summer stats don't mean much. And if he is our starting three, then I guess that may be a sign that the staff isn't as sold on Jones and JN being sure bets to be major difference makers. I'm all for bringing in as many good players as we can, though.
