Travis Ford

Who would want to play for Travis ford right now? He took one of the biggest recruits and turned him into someone who said "it's ok that I flop because others flop too!!"

That's bananas in pajamas crazy.

I feel bad for you, earlpearl, I really do. This can't possibly be a good time to be an OSU basketball fan.

The topic of this thread has to accept some of the blame for that. I don't think there is any question that Ford has lost control of his team.

He lost control of Stevie when all the signs were there. He lost control of Smart when all the signs were there. I think he doesn't command respect and doesn't know how to discipline players. If even a portion of the SI article was true, though, that sounds like the culture of OSU athletics in general.

The culture at OSU? Ford is the only one that I know at OSU that does not have control. You may not like Gundy but don't kid yourself he has control of his team. He booted several bad apples to start his tenure off.

When you can prove it, I will eat some more crow. What is interesting is that the one that leveled those accusations was booted off the team for... you guessed it drugs.

Deny it if you want, but what I see is program out of control and serious reason to believe that the athletic department is a part of the problem.

To further support the idea that Ford doesn't have control, look no further than what happened right after Smart returned to the bench.

An official was trying to talk to Ford about the incident and the call. But Smart was right in the middle of the conversation, pointing his finger at the official, while continuing to rant about the whole affair. Ford didn't so much as put an arm or a hand out to move Marcus away. At the very least, an assistant should have stepped in to take charge of the situation so Ford could talk to the official.

One has to wonder who is running the team now?

That's because Ford "didn't see what happened"! So, until he sees it, nothing happened!
 
Lost 5 of 6 including 4 in a row & Smart has now had a physical altercation with a fan? This gift just keeps on giving. I just hope this doesn't change OSU's position on Ford. I would like him to stick around a while longer. Can I declare victory on this yet?

Osu made their bed with that 10-year contract, now they are stuck with him.

He has 5 years left at over $2 mill per, plus incentives.

Unless they want to pay upwards of $5+ million per year for the next 5 years, in order to pay both coaches, ford will be around for at least a couple more glorious seasons.

I doubt they'd be on the hook for all of that if they let him go. There is probably a buy out, or a clause about how much of that is guaranteed.
