All kinds of talk about it on Twitter right now. Wow.

Who would aTm go after if he leaves?

Well hell. Attempt #3:

A&M would be up in arms... Would love to see the melt down.

That said, their last two hires have been fantastic.

The buzz from sources within A&M program is that Turgeon is taking Maryland job. We should know either way by 6:30. Hasn't done so yet.

Why would he do that? He has a good thing in A&M. He can recruit Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Those cities are all within 3 hours (or so) from College Station (San Antonio may be slightly further than 3 hours). If it is money, A&M can match. I sure wouldn't leave a good thing at A&M for Maryland.

I think Maryland is just a much better job. I don't think you can win it all at A&M. Maybe you can, but history has shown even making a final four would be a feat.

Although Texas A&M has been relevant for the last 7-8 years, I would still say they are the fourth best job in the Big 12 south.

Maryland runs circles around the A&M job. You are minutes away from DC which is a recruiting hotbed, and access to the east coast from Georgia to NYC. Even as the third best program in the ACC, there are too many intangibles with the Maryland program to pass it up. You are always going to be the number 3 option at best in your own state behind Texas and Kansas, so it's just not even a question about why you would take the Maryland job. The money will be even, and the support in Maryland will always be Number 1 for basketball and Number 2 for football. You will always be second fiddle with the Aggie fans.

The timing of this really screws A&M if it goes down.

My guess for replacements would be Buzz Williams (Marquette), Mark Fox (Georgia), or Doc Sadler (Nebraska).

THREAD.......

The Big 12 looks easier and easier every day this off-season.

Someone on SoonerFans said Turgeon is taking Texas A&M's best recruit with him.

wow....that truly sucks for ATM. Hope they get a good one!

williams buyout is still a problem and he just signed a huge new contract

Maryland would save alot of money tho. They would only have to change the first name on the office door and the letterhead.
