I'm not a Turgeon fan, but he has far exceeded my expectations of what he would do at aTm.
That being said, he's not going to supplant Roy Williams or Coach K in the ACC anytime soon. This is definitely a 3rd place hire, IMO, whereas Miller would have been a potential 1st place hire.

Roy will be 61 this season. Krzyzewski will be 65. Turgeon doesn't have to supplant them soon. He only needs to put Maryland in the position to supplant whoever replaces those two within the next 5-10 years.
UNC and Duke will both have their pick of replacement coaches, but if Turgeon's a solid #3 in the ACC he may have enough of a head start to put Maryland on top for a good run.
