Two Oklahoma State basketball players are possible suspects in a sexual assault investigation in Stillwater.

The players' names were not released because no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

Capt. Randy Dickerson said Stillwater Police were notified of the incident through an anonymous letter Wednesday evening. The letter said three female OSU students had been sexually assaulted at an off-campus party Saturday night, Dickerson said.

Through an investigation, police identified the alleged victims and three possible suspects — the two basketball players and another person who is not an OSU student.

Police will release findings of the investigation to the Payne County District Attorney’s Office early next week, Dickerson said.

OSU officials could not be reached for comment.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater police said two Oklahoma State basketball players are suspects in sexual assaults that happened at a party last weekend.

Capt. Randy Dickerson did not release their names because they have not been arrested or charged.

Police will present charges to the Payne County District Attorney's Office next week, Dickerson said.

Police received an anonymous letter Wednesday alleging three OSU students were sexually assaulted at a party in the 400 block of Lewis Street Saturday night, Dickerson said. The author sent the letter to other addresses, but Dickerson declined to say where.

The letter claims basketball players assaulted three OSU students at the party.

Thirty minutes after police got the letter, an investigation team was looking into the allegations, Dickerson said. They found that at least three basketball players were at the party, but Dickerson said he anticipates the police department will present a case to the district attorney's office against two of them.

A non-student is also a suspect, he said. Charges could be filed against him.

None of the suspects or possible victims lived at the house where the party was held, Dickerson said.

Dickerson declined to say how the three women may have been sexually assaulted. Sexual assault crimes include rape, rape by instrumentation, fondling and other sexual acts.

OSU spokesman Gary Shutt said university officials have not taken disciplinary action against the players.

"OSU is cooperating fully with the Stillwater police investigation and the university is taking this matter very seriously," he said. "No charges have been filed and therefore no disciplinary action has been taken at this time."

another anonymous letter case. Just like Pilgrims earlier this year. He said/she said

and why would they wait several days after it happened to tell the police. Seems sketchy to me

I imagine the fact that very little is ever done to any sports figure who behaves badly has a rather chilling effect on things.

There is no blueprint or exact outline as to how people react to sexual assault/abuse. I work in Child Abuse/Neglect Investigations at DHS, and we constantly see young girls between 10-17 who were molested by family, friends, strangers, etc, and after several yrs they one day decide to disclose. Many of those disclosures are horrific, and they often open Pandora's Box of Investigations.

I have no knowledge about this case, and I'm content to let the thing play out, but please don't make the mistake of believing that all rape victims react the same way, reprt the same way, and recover the same way.

Blankenship4 must be an OSU fan, hes already calling the victims story suspect. Ill wait till I hear more before I say that.

What is it about OSU and rapists this year? They had one of their former star football player arrested and looking at a prison sentence. Pilgrim earlier this year. Now 2 more.

I missed the part where it was said that anyone was raped in this case. I do think the newspaper is jumping the gun a bit with the reporting.

It's not at all uncommon in cases involving sexual assault (as someone else mentioned). The embarrassment that comes with this type of crime combined with the likelihood that nothing will come of it, plus the possibility that she's worried people on campus will hold it against her if it hurts the team could all be factors in the delay (along with numerous other things).

Very well said, and much better than my dismissive response, which was rude. I'd just add that victims of sexual assault are also often reluctant to come forward because they don't think people will believe them or claim that they brought it on themselves.

"Dickerson declined to say how the three women may have been sexually assaulted. Sexual assault crimes include rape, rape by instrumentation, fondling and other sexual acts."

Sexual assault does not equal rape. Oh and Nick, Pilgrim was never arrested or charged with anything and the case was dismissed by the judge.
