If you think the players weren't going to play in a NBA playoff game, the league wouldn't step in and give assurance that something will be done? Especially considering the head of the players association is Chris Paul? Safe to assume they are much more in the know.

I expect them to play. it would be crazy not to. But they are still cashing their checks from somebody who is allegedly a racist. They are making the statement that the money means more to them than his comments. I'm fine with that...just don't get on a high horse about it. Again, put up or shut up.

I heard this on the radio this morning, is it really a punishment for him to sell the team. He bought the team for 15 million, if and when it is sold it is estimated to be between 750 mill to a billion dollars ( per the radio). Even if he is forced to sell, he will be making a bank.

NBA owners do not want him to sell his team for less then its worth as then that will lower the value of their team when it comes time to sell.

The person on the radio said ban him from any team interactin (including attending games) for 5-10 years. That way he can sell if he wants but it wasn't the league forcing him to make an obscene profit.

Also heard on ESPN radio that the women is being looked at for blackmail and recording conversation while the other party did not know about it(illegal in California) by the police. This could get really interesting.

Also, I think it's laughable the way the Clips are handling it. Put up or shut up. Don't give a speech about thinking about forfeiting a game but deciding to play and then go do the antics of wearing warmups inside out and throwing them in the center of the court. Either make a stand or don't.

You are asking them to give up something they have worked vary hard to achieve. I don't think that is reasonable. These guys are competitive. They want an NBA championship as much as anyone else. I understand that they care more about winning games than protesting their stupid owner.

I think this situation has many more shades of gray for the Clippers players than you are realizing. It's not so simple to keep their mouths shut and just play and "cash checks." Of course they are upset about the idiot's comments and of course they are going to play. Why can't they voice their displeasure AND go out and compete for themselves, their teammates, coaches, fans and family?

Since I have enjoyed many of your posts, I hope that you will consider what about this position resulted in my placing you on Ignore. It is sad that what the owner did is not really that unusual, but it is even more frustrating that any excuse is provided for this attitude.

Which is worse? Terrible terrible racist comments or actually putting peoples lives in danger?

1) Dennis Rodman - He has been arrested twice for domestic violence, twice for drunken driving, obstructing justice, domestic dispute, and had police come to his house over 70 times for noise violations at his Newport Beach house.

2) James Worthy -- So, when he was arrested in a police sting for soliciting prostitution in Houston it was understandably embarrassing for both the league and Worthy.

3) Allen Iverson -- The charges included assault, weapons offenses and terrorist threats because he allegedly threw his wife out of the house during a fight and threatened two men with a gun while looking for her again

4) DeShawn Stevenson -- In 2001 as a rookie with the Utah Jazz, Stevenson admitted to taking a 14-year-old girl back to a hotel room, getting her drunk and having consensual sex with her.

It's nice when situations like this pop up so peoples true colors are revealed. Anybody who has said "he was set up", brought up "free speech", mentioned Al Sharpton or suggested black people are just as racist. etc is a clown.

Here's a news flash: If the words "I'm not a racist" ever come out of your mouth or your keyboard, if you offer a defense for a person caught dead to rights espousing clearly racist views, there's a 99% chance you're an ignorant racist.

I will say it "I'm not a racist", I am not defending Sterling. Everything they can do should be done against him. But, I also believe a person has free speech and is free from getting taped (illegaly) at supposily his own home during a private conversation and it being used against him. I have said some things in my own home, mostly at the TV sceen during a football game, that I would not like taped and played for the world. More cussing then I want to admit too. But I expect that my girlfriend, and now wife would not tape them.

Again he is caught dead to rights and should be punished, the problem is what punishment fits the crime and what can they legaly do against him.

If he keeps the team and no players sign with then, I think that would be funny and he would deserve it. But they will, money talks even if its from racist old farts.
