Uh Oh, Clippers owner

The "specific people" he didn't want to rent to were blacks and Mexicans.
That is correct. How do you know that this is b/c he is racist or b/c the people that actually applied fit his description?

And actually, that's exactly what you've done. I've documented exactly what you did in the previous posts, and explained it to you very simply and clearly.
Sorry bud, I haven't said anytihng racist. Simply saying that what he said was mild for the consequence and that a huge box has been opened.

The overblown cries of racism cause more resentment and racism. Things are not getting better but worse because of the over reaction of many

The owners can terminate his ownership with a 75% vote. That process is beginning. Cuban is concerned about terminating an ownership because of stupid comments because, well, Mark has on occasion went off the rails. lol

Mizzy, when Magic and his Dodgers group buy the Clippers and change the name, the Lakers might sweat a little.

I read a piece on ESPN were the legal anylst said that as far as he understood it they could only do a vote to disolve the clippers but could not actually force to sell.

There seems to be so many people with different answers out there. Even Silver did not say he was forcing him to sell, only he would help to try to facilitate a sale.

This is kind of like watching the Texas football coach fun of last offseason. You're so happy that it's not your team and you're kind of smiling about the misfortune of arrogant arseholes and you're curious what will happen next.

It is hard to punish a billionaire. They can buy almost anything, they can make people act however they want by waving money in their direction, they usually have little fear of punishment and consequence, because money... etc. etc.

They took away the rich boy's toy. Here's hoping that his next tantrum is recorded somewhere and picked up by TMZ and Deadspin ;)

I agree, he should be banned for life and should sell the team and definitly not a Sterling defender. But you are slightly incorrect about the recorded convresation part. I worked for a company that delt in California. Were were told several times by compliance officers that recording a conversation that one party was in CA withough there knowledge was a crime punishable by fine and imprisoment according to CA law. So only usable in court of law does not matter. But her lawyer has denied she released the tapes and has supposivly said there was a third part there at the time who could have recorded it.

Silver did the best he could with this situation.

What she did was probably illegal in California. But that only matters for criminal prosecution, or admission in a civil trial. Your actions in your home don't preclude you damaging your employers brand regardless of the reason they come to light.

For example, if you were cooking meth in your home and the government searched without a warrant and the evidence was inadmissible, that wouldn't preclude your employer from firing you. You simply wouldn't be able to be prosecuted.

This is not 1942, and his kind should not be allowed to own something like a professional sports team.
And why is that? Do you not believe in capitalism? What if others say that atheists shouldn't be allowed to own businesses?

This also cuts the legs off idiots like Sharpton and Jackson who would use this as an opportunity to spew their crap. With the swift, aggressive action taken by the NBA, and the impending action of the owners forcing this racist to sell, even those clowns have been shut down.
I agree with this but don't count on sharpton/jackson ever shutting up

niggas.....
oh you can say that b/c you are black right?

I wonder what will happen when Google Glass gets more widespread

yes I highly doubt they can make him sell. I'm sure they can kick the team out of the league but they wouldn't do that

this is the biggest load of crap. Donald Sterling damaged the brand of Donald Sterling.

So you don't think your employer (assuming you don't work for the government) wouldn't fire you in about 30 seconds if you were broadcast on the local news spewing racist crap? Because I guarantee you that they would feel that even someone as lowly as you had damaged their brand.

I agree. I find the whole process facinating from her dating him, to the legal issues of the recording getting out, to how the NBA deals with it, how if or when its sold. Its been an interesting read and follow. I don't wish that people felt like he does, but it has been interesting to follow.

i never said that.

I said that Sterlings comments ahve done nothing to hurt the brand of the nba. Nobody is thinking that the NBA is a bunch of racists. They think an owner is. Nobody is going to stop watching the NBA b/v of it. Nobody is going to stop going to Clippers games.

Are you kidding me? Just because you wouldn't care if an owner is a racist (whose racist comments you have declared are "insensitive truths"), that doesn't mean the rest of the population agrees with you. Again, what planet do you live on?

so you think that it is legal for one party recording in California as long as it isn't brought up in court?

No I very clearly stated that what she did was likely illegal. And she could be prosecuted for it. It doesn't matter re: Donald Sterling's business partners decision to react to what he did.

1. I never said that they were all insensitive truths.
2. I will guarentee you that Clipper attendance will not be hurt.
