Uh Oh, Clippers owner

Just announced: Ban for life. $2.5 million fine.

Silver is trying to push him to sell. Let's see what the mad man does now, if anything.

Sounds like they can force him to sell with 75% of the owners voting for it. If I heard that correctly. That vote will be 100%.

If Sterling has even the slightest bit of dignity and humility (or a PR firm) he will come out and publicly apologize and facilitate the sale.

Care to elaborate on the truths Sterling was espousing, Bounce?

I'd rather not because people are sensitive and it will be construed as racsim.

Really though, I find a year ban pretty extreme. if that is the precedence the nba wants that is fine, but they better stick to it. If racism is a bannable reason then so should abuse, drunk driving, etc.

So which part of the article was your "insensitive truths" bounce?

Was it the part where Sterling said Mexicans sit around all day and are drunks?

Was it the part where he said blacks are smelly and unclean?

Was it the part where he said he wanted a Southern white coach to coach the poor blacks?

Was it the part where he asked Rollie Masimino why he could coach these "n****"?

Because, aside from the weird stuff about prostitution and having women come on to him, those were the only things that Sterling said in that article, Bounce. Which of those were not racist statements, Bounce?

Mods, are you kidding me?

How do you know that in Sterlings situations those are not truths? Obviously saying the n word is racist (if you are not black).

I don't see why saying you want a white coach to coach blacks is racist. It's funny because a black player can say I want a black coach or a black coach and have a preference to black players but that isn't racist.

People can see racism in anything. I just don't think what he did was worthy of a lifetime ban and him having to sell his team. PLayers do stuff worse than he did every week.

I'm not saying he isnt a racist. I'm saying that this is unfair and I'm tired of the hypocritical stories that are made to be stories. it's tiresome and pathetic.

and again, what have I done to get banned?

Oh I get it, the precedence has been set! The NBA can ban owners for private racial remarks so everybody should be able to ban somebody from anything for saying anything the disagree with!

So blanket, derogatory statements about an entire race are not racism? What planet do you live on?

And you should be banned because you're professing blatantly racist statements as "truths", and it's an embarrassment to the membership of this site.

Nothing you say to anyone else is truly private, because they can tell the rest of the world exactly what you said. The only difference here is that she recorded it so he can't lie and deny what he said.

Where did he make blanket statements? He was specifically talking about the people that he didn't want to rent an apartment to. Yes it could have been racist but it wasn't necesarily if the people that tried to rent for him actual fit the discription.

I'm not doing anything of the sort.

Get your panties out of a wad

She recorded it illegally.

A huge box is opened when people can use illegally obtained evidence against you.

And yes, there is such a thing as privacy...at least there should be.

Sperry, don't worry about it. Like the President so eloquently said, "when ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk." His mom probably taught him that back from her days in Kansas. It's so true and applicable to the Sterling apologists around here. There are more of them than we would like to believe.

The "specific people" he didn't want to rent to were blacks and Mexicans.

And actually, that's exactly what you've done. I've documented exactly what you did in the previous posts, and explained it to you very simply and clearly.

Mark Cuban said they cannot force him to sell. He stated they can exclude him from everything and make it hard on him so he wants to sell, but cannot force him to sell.

I read somewhere where his wife and other family members were wanting to keep the team in the family when sterling passed away, so a sale may still be off the table.

Where can she use this illegally obtained "evidence"? She can't in a court of law, which is what privacy rights protect you from.

Donald Sterling damaged the brand of the NBA, and is being punished as such. It's a business decision for the league, not a moral one, and it's a very easy one to make. Sterling has been a known racist for years, and the league hasn't cared. But the consumers have spoken their moral outrage, and the cost in dollars and cents to the league was very real, so they acted.

I applaud the NBA Commissioner, the fans, and the owners who are already speaking out in support of the new Commissioner.

There is no place in society for idiots like Sterling. This is not 1942, and his kind should not be allowed to own something like a professional sports team. It is a sad state of affairs when things like this surface. I'm so glad that we have gotten to a point in time where people will call it out, and action will be taken.

This also cuts the legs off idiots like Sharpton and Jackson who would use this as an opportunity to spew their crap. With the swift, aggressive action taken by the NBA, and the impending action of the owners forcing this racist to sell, even those clowns have been shut down.

A great start by Silver. Now let's get back to some hoops, and let the idiots return to their dark rooms discussing those worthless niggas.....

The owners can terminate his ownership with a 75% vote. That process is beginning. Cuban is concerned about terminating an ownership because of stupid comments because, well, Mark has on occasion went off the rails. lol

Mizzy, when Magic and his Dodgers group buy the Clippers and change the name, the Lakers might sweat a little.

I agree, he should be banned for life and should sell the team and definitly not a Sterling defender. But you are slightly incorrect about the recorded convresation part. I worked for a company that delt in California. Were were told several times by compliance officers that recording a conversation that one party was in CA withough there knowledge was a crime punishable by fine and imprisoment according to CA law. So only usable in court of law does not matter. But her lawyer has denied she released the tapes and has supposivly said there was a third part there at the time who could have recorded it.

Silver did the best he could with this situation.

Magic should have nothing to do with the Clippers new ownership group. This is just asking for to much trouble. To many conpiracy theorists out there.
