As of today, 03.28.2016 OU is a 2 point underdog.... Nova favored by 2. Heck a few months OU destroyed this team by 20plus. I would understand a pick em game, but an underdog? Do not really care (motivation), but find it strange? Be interesting to see where the money goes from now until game time!

Maybe it's because the game will be played so close to Philadelphia. ;)

Underdog is fine. UO was favored by 1.5 by game time.
The betting world doesn't put much weight on early December games.

Evidently, the betting world also doesn't put much weight on late March NCAA tournament games in which a No. 2 seed defeats a No. 1 seed by 12 points (it could have easily been 18-20).

Anyway, the underdog role is fine with me as well.

Or maybe they're putting A LOT of weight on Elite 8 games...

Betting lines mean nothing to me. The closest I come to betting on a sport is filling out an NCAA tournament bracket for fun. But, if the betting world sees OU as the underdog, I see that as a good thing. I think our kids play better when they've got a little something to prove.

Odds are, you're right! :ez-laugh:

not a gambler as well, but I was always told it's more about who they think the money is on...rather than who will really win (in a scientific way)...

basically playing the odds of HOW people bet vs who really is a better team?

yes?

either way, OU does pretty well as the underdog, usually.

Correct, a line is NOT a prediction. The oddsmakers in Vegas might THINK OU is gonna win by 20, but that has little to do with how they create a line. The goal is simply to create a line that draws equal money on both teams. I imagine they took into account how well Nova has played for well over a month AND the fact that the masses just saw them take out the #1 overall seed in the tournament. Had they inserted OU as a favorite they could have risked an influx of Nova bets that makes them uncomfortable. It does sound like the money went OVERLY heavy on the Wildcats even with them being favored, so I imagine they are hoping to see more action on OU as the week progresses.
