Updates?

Odds have to be in our favor after the 4 (3 really, with Shannon being a University issue) in football that didn't go our way.

I do think it's pretty important that at least one of these guys is eligible, preferably Thomas if Buddy really is looking at going pro next year.

No formal updates but I believe Buford is going to redshirt, its almost a done deal

Classes from Hs are not being accepted by ncaa

Jaaron Simmons who also transferred from Houston due to the coaching change; his waiver got denied for immediate eligibility. So I would assume Thomas' is also going to get denied.

Do not understand why coaches can change whenever they want and schools can release students for any reason they deem, but students can't change schools without consequences.

If you want the students to stay, give them a reason to stay.

I can understand it. If it was that easy and everyone just bolted, it would completely screw over the college and its fan base every time a coach leaves.

While I'm certainly rooting for Thomas to be cleared to play, I haven't really heard a compelling reason to feel optimistic that he will get his waiver.

College sports would be unwatchable if that were allowed to happen.

What a damper losing out on both Buford and Thomas would put on this season. Dang.

Could Buford become eligible for 2nd semester if he has a good academic 1st semester? In a way I wish he would redshirt, but if the Thomas waiver appeal is denied, they could use Buford's body inside for conference play.

A half year from Buford is better than nothing.

I guess they could but I'm not sure that's best for him. He needs those non Conf games to figure thr college game out.
I think it was vbad that said they almost didn't let him enroll in college altogether. Not sure if NCAA will go for that or not

Assuming no Thomas or Buford, then the only additions to the roster are Lattin and McNeace. It will be tough for them along with Bennett to replace Cam Clark. I hope they can help Spangler in the post.

I agree that it will not be easy to replace Cam. But, if Bennett follows the pattern we usually see in juco transfers, he will be much improved this season.

I'm also anxious to get my first look at Dinjiyl Walker. He put up some impressive numbers on a 32-3 Western CC team that was the #1 seed in the national tournament last year. Not to be overlooked was his 40% average from three point range.

I'm a bit bummed out by the news about Buford and the possibility that we might lose our appeal for a waiver on Thomas. While we may not finish second in the Big 12, I still think this team has the potential to be at least as good if not better than last year's team.

Saw Lon today, talking with Al Eschbach, and overheard him say that Buford is probably out due to the HS classes. He said it wasn't anything Buford did, but the school's fault.
He also said they are still waiting on official word, but they don't expect him to be eligible.
He said they are hoping he can practice with them this year, but made it sound like that wasn't a sure thing. He doesn't think it will cost him a year of eligibility though.

Al then asked who would start if Thomas doesn't get to play, and the first name Lon brought up was DJ Bennett, and then Lattin.

That was all I heard before they both walked out of listening range.
I know a lot of this has been said already, but just wanted to pass along what I heard.
