These coaches weren't as bad as Capel the past 2 years. What gives!

The last 4 out of 6 seasons for Hewitt have been horrible:

11-17
20-12 (NCAA 1st rd)
15-17
11-17
23-13 (NCAA 2nd rd)
13-18

Looks familiar.

Apparently Utah has higher expectations.

Good post bigabd. Surprising isn't it that Utah would have higher expectations then OU. Hopefully that is not the case and Joe C will do the right thing.

Not that I'm saying Capel should be retained, but let's not forget that Boylen's biggest accomplishment in his 4 years as coach at Utah was a 1st rd NCAA exit. He only made the tournament once in 4 seasons.

Georgia Tech also has to pay 7 million to Hewitt, plus they are still paying Chan Gailey their former football coach. Hewitt recruited well, but only had one winning acc season. He should have been fired a couple years ago.

What are the people at G. Tech and Utah drinking? Talk about getting a raw deal. The fans need to lower their expectations. I bet it was YJTraveler and Uteo4 that led the charge.

If GeoTech can pay Hewitt a $7 million payout how can OU think twice about a paltry $2 million to Capel. Can't believe GeoTech has more money than OU.

Neither of those schools have the uncertainty of possible NCAA sanctions hanging over their heads, so you are comparing apples to oranges.

blah blah blah... same stuff different day! Doesnt anyone get tired of saying the same thing over and over again?

So if you are a coach and want to retain you job, just work to have your NCAA sanctions hanging over the school's head.

Utah did that in the Mountain West (or whatever conference they were in). In the Pac 10 they're even worse. If they weren't making that move I doubt he'd be fired. They probably want to make a splash hire as they move into a legit conference (and one with good basketball tradition but not a lot of great teams right now).

If Utah plays their cards right, they could be at the top of the Pac 10 before too long.
