We make such deal about have 10 guys that can play, but no one can be counted on to score. Hield had a great 1st half, but has done nothing in the 2n half. Our post players are non existent against by playing 15-20 feet from the basket (or the guards aren't good enough at getting them the ball in the low post).
Cant shoot free throws....
Cant run in transition....
no consistent perimeter shooting.....

We'll get destroyed in conference play if we play with this kind of sporadic offense.

Do you believe we will continue to play this badly on offense?

They haven't given me any reason to believe differently......no one steps up, and we cant get quality shots up against UT-Arlington with our offense.....

The freshman guards are really struggling vs pressure in first game away from home...not terribly surprising. They will get better with experience. However some expectations have gotten carried away. The NIT would be good progress for this team.

We will see....

Its a long season and I like our chances with Lon coaching.

They'll make a lot of improvements in the next month. Having said that, I'm concerned about mbaye and the guards ability to break the press. A very mediocre team pressed us and completely took us out of our offense. Hopefully, we get better and I think we will.

It's the second game of a long season. I agree, if we don't improve, we'll struggle in conference. But who in the world thought we'd be at midseason form by the second game of the year -- and a road game at that?

And here we go with the OU football mentality. We suck! We're great! We suck! We're great!

Listen guys...this is basketball, not football. We play more than 12 games. It's very early. Relax.

LOL, I was about to say just that.

The OP sounded like the football fans suggesting we'd lose 5-6 games this season after the KSU game. Silly.

We didn't play a great game tonight, at times. We'll get better.

Yes. Anytime you can go on the road, play as bad as we did in the second half and still win, it is a good win. Our young guys are going to struggle in these early games.

Live by the jumper, die by the jumper. The lack of an half court identity is a bit troubling so far.

It's waaayyyyyy to early to be overly concerned about anything you saw that you didn't like. The defense was good, especially when you consider what our defense looked like two years ago. There were times when the offense looked good. There were times when rebounding looked very good.

This was a great game for this team and the individual players to learn from.

Chill out everyone, this team is soooooooo much talented than last years it isn't even funny. Lon is a Great coach and he has a ton of parts to work with and get into different places. I think he left Hornbeck? in more since he is from Arlington - trying to help the young man.

Also, if we blow them out by 30 they start thinking they are OK. I think it is better to WIN but win a close one where Lon has alot of coaching angles. He will use this game to the utmost and watch our guys improve going forward. I like games early that challenge you, it helps as the season goes along IMO

Exactly. This game was a learning experience, something LK can work on in practice to correct the mistakes we made.

It's never fun to watch your favorite team blow a big lead and stink it up in the second half. Still, I'd much rather do that than to see them leave town with a loss. Teams may have bad games, but there is no such thing as a bad win.

.....but there is no such thing as a bad win.

You'd think after the last several years, OU fans would understand that.

This team is going to get better over the course of the season. In the mean time, we need to win every game we can, even if it's ugly.

What's funny is that, this thread gets started, then nothing after we manage to pull out the win. OU football mentality to a T.
