We offered this Rick Issanza kid

If this dude could raise his basketball IQ and become a player like Udoka at KU, I'd take him. Right now, he's extremely raw. Need to see more improvement and then I'd be on board. 7'1" centers would be really good down low for rebounding and altering shots.

Well, yeah. If he was anywhere near Udoka, we’d love to have him along with everyone else in CBB. Those types never end up at OU though. They go to Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, etc. We can only hope to get a project that is a late bloomer into a playmaker.

An article on 247 says he's focused on Baylor, Oklahoma and TCU. He's been to TCU and plans to visit Baylor and OU. He says he likes the way we play.

A really good big will have an offer from pretty much everyone. The only bigs available without a ton of offers are kids that need a ton of work.

I did see an athletic big at Hutch Juco this year from Kenya that is a freak athlete that can play a little. It'll be interesting to see how he develops.

Yep. OU could really use a player like Bookout again.

Bookout was a stud...I'd LOVE to have him on this team...

with that said...ut has nothing but tall skinny athletic guys..but they are 6-3 right now.

Now Bookiut is a stiff?

The guy played two sports in college and could have played baseball. Guess how many sports we all played in college and how many we could have played in college? Zero is the correct answer.

I really wish I had been a stiff like Kevin Bookout.

several on this board either played sports in college or turned down scholarships to play sports in college ...

so zero is not the correct answer ..

100% - Just because he is white does not make him a stiff. Dude could move his feet and had loads of athletic ability, it just was not above the rim.

Can we stop hating on Bookout? This discussion has stretched out over months now.

Bookout was very good when he played but he'd have a really tough time in today's game. Who would he guard? How would he score?

Maybe he would have also developed the skills that other sort of tweeners have developed since he played -- the ability to drive his man, to shoot from outside -- but a 6'7" back to the basket post player would have a really hard time today. The game has changed. If he had also changed, maybe it would work.

I wouldn’t say Jamuni has worked out well.

He started by the end of the season because he was the best we had on a horrible ( talent wise) big men squad.

Another terrible post. Jamuni is one of the best bigs in the conference.

Def when hes aggresive and using his brain! He has nba level athleticism. Still has some basketball learning to do. But he might figure it all out this year imo. Could be really special

I take Bookout every time all the time in 1 million years in a row. That said, if those guys are projects, they worked out. Projects are not supposed to work out. Project its aresupposed to sit the bench for their entire careers so all three of those guys if they were indeed projects were successes.

I don’t consider any of those three guys projects by the way.
Good take.

What was wrong with Bookout? He would start on this team with ease. I think to many times players are judge by how well they dunk and how flashy they are on the court...Leave that junk to the NBA.

Was Ryan Spangler so much more athletic than Bookout? I'd take either of them (or a player like them) back in a heartbeat.
