Welp, on to bball season

I know you mean that as a joke, but it is how many Sooner fans will actually react and its' very sad.

Problem is, now all we're playing for is our umpteenth Big XII championship and another trip to lovely Glendale, AZ for a date with the Potatoes or Cinci. Hard to get excited about that as a fan. At least in basketball you can always pretend you'll win out and bring home the glory until you've played your last game.

I'm not so sure this is a year where one loss will eliminate a team.

You have games left against the #3, #8 and #16 BCS teams.

One of LSU/Bama will be knocked out next week. You'll jump Oregon in the computers if you both win out IMO. That leaves Stanford, Clemson and Boise State to jump for a spot in the national title. I doubt Boise will get a shot. Stanford still has a game left against Oregon, and Clemson has road games vs. Georgia Tech and South Carolina. A loss by both wouldn't be surprising at all.

Far from the end of the road for OU.

Yeah now that I've had a day to dwell on it I actually agree with this. Basketball shouldn't be as soul crushing this year either, considering that we're better and the Big 12 in general is worse I expect us to at least be competitive in most games. Hopefully we can finish over .500

I'm hoping for Cincy in the Fiesta Bowl. If we gave 4 TDs better talent boob might be able to sneak out a 3 pt victory.

Don't really care to see Bob schooled again and fall flat on his face like usual. He never beats teams with even equal talent and loses a couple each year to teams with significantly inferior talent.

I think if it's a 1 loss team in the game, it will be an LSU/ Bama rematch, unless the first game is a blowout.

Disagree. OU was a close third in the BCS rankings a week ago when all were undefeated. If it's OU vs. one of those two teams and both have one loss, I'd bet the strength of OU's schedule going forward would give them an edge.

OU still has to get past Kansas State in Manhattan. They are still iffy, but they beat KU worse than OU did and seem to be getting better and better every week. Ranked in the top 10, undefeated, best coach in the country. That is going to be a really rough game and OU is probably feeling like they just had the wind knocked out of them.

I was sure the game had passed Snyder by. That team is not very talented, but they win anyway. Damn good coaching job by him. You may be right that he's the best coach in the country right now (at least in terms of Xs and Os).

"Hell," Switzer said. "He's not the coach of the year or the coach of the decade. Bill is the coach of the century."

Gotta give K-State credit for taking care of business, but the next four weeks for them are murder....us (hopefully we show up), OSU, A&M and Texas. Going to learn a lot about them.

As for our MNC chances, we have a shot, but going to need a lot of help. Need Georgia to lose (Boise beat them) and USC to create some havoc in the Pac-12 (they are home vs. Stanford and @UO). Hopefully Clemson starts acting like Clemson again (damn you Maryland for blowing that 20+ lead).

Can't wait to see you reaction the first time the basketball team loses Sooner_In_MI

That's the problem with the BCS. If there were a playoff where conference champions were auto qualifiers, this loss wouldn't hurt so much. Under the current system, the field is narrowed to just a handful of teams by now and the rest are just playing out the string.

This is just flatly wrong. Texas has equal or better talent every year and OU beats Texas on a consistent basis. In the entire Stoops era there have only been a couple of losses that really bothered me. OU was clearly going to lose a home game at some point. It sucks that it happened on Saturday but there is a reason no one else had gone undefeated at home for as long and that it because it was a big accomplishment.

People that criticize Bob Stoops simply don't know much about college sports. They also don't seem to be able to remember what a bad coach was like or what an average coach was like. If you need a reminder go look at OU in the 1990s. We had an average coach and two bad coaches during that time period.

Honestly, I think KSU will lose three conference games.
