West Virginia

The two treys they hit got them back in it.

We were getting killed on the boards until Kornet and Treece came in. Then you began to see some blocking out. Don't understand why Kornet came out. Did she have two fouls.

Little really struggling and Campbell-Olds too. I'm really concerned about Sharane's productivity the last 5 or 6 games.

Maddie looks to be moving pretty well and playing heads up ball.

Carter has carried us but she started trying to do too much just before the half. She is really quick.

I liked the way Vionese ran the court to block that shot. A real brick on the free shot though.

Yep, the boxing out was much improved when Kornet (2 fouls) and Treece got some time.

I too am a little concerned about Sharane's game.
It's kinda hard to describe, but I feel like her game has a certain hustling and banging when she's most effective … and right now it almost feels like here might be a little too much chaos on the floor and she seems to be having a little trouble finding her way into the game - if that makes any sense.

Gioya's got 16 points … got a little raggedy late, but we need her energy.

I knew homes was going to put her mark on this game before was all said and done

While I never did understand our defense, that was a really good win! Thank you, Gioya Carter!!

What a game! Of course, there are many areas we need to improve, but we got the win, and KK(second-half version) and Carter looked really good.

Loved the effort by this team. This is a good win for a young team against a veteran team. Fortunately, our players have more confidence in themselves than their fans do.

Good, gritty win by OU. Even though we won that game, I felt like the OU women looked like high school players against Yale. In this game, the battled through their mistakes. I particularly impressed by Gioya. T'Ona and LaNesia made some great plays as well (save for TT's turnovers at the end). Overall, great team effort. I was less impressed by WVU than I was impressed by OU. I guess WVU was greatly impacted by the loss of their seniors last year.

Gioya----where has this Gioya been? She has been good the past two games. She was destroying WV until she had three of the four turnovers that let WV back into the game late in the half. She is blowing by Holmes, and, in this half, she looked like a better player than Holmes. Interesting.

Edwards and LaNesia Williams did well. After playing well in the last game, Peyton is trying to dribble in a crowd in this one. NO. She is not that good of a ball handler.

Vionese and McKenna seem to want to play more than Kay Kay does.

I think Gioya began like this last year and then on the trip back east before conference play, she did not do well and then she just wasn't the same.

Maybe Edwards and LaNesia are a good combo for certain match-ups. Edwards had a pretty good game....well, it sounded like from the radio. It is difficult go by just listening and looking at stats.

This WVU team isn't as tough defensively as their team last year.

Hey, we are just fans. I hope they are confident. I think some of us here felt
we should win, some would, and some scared. Personally, I just felt it could go either way.

Guess you were there from your post above. Must have been a fun game to see. :)

Interesting. The better team won. It was that simple. They only had one player who could play with us today.

Outstanding day for Gioya. After a silent first half, Kay Kay was outstanding in the second half. Has Kay Kay been that good this year? She rebounded, shot intelligently, blocked shots, and played smart in the second half. Sharane was back to her old form in the second half. Until the last two minutes, T'Ona really played well. Her defense was good, and she was four of five on her layups.

Peyton didn't do well dribbling the entire game. She did make a nice assist at the end to help us put it away. She hit her free throws, three of four.

We may be looking for different players every game to take the lead. Fortunately, we seem to have them. We were just better than WV, and I wasn't sure of that going in. We even won the board battle.

I agree. we are better than WVU.

On another note, I wonder why so many of us always have to footnote our praise of a particular OU player by saying something like, "She played really well except for those last two minutes," or "Great game if not for those three turnovers."

Good grief! No player, not even those in the WNBA, play 30-35 minutes of error-free ball. No one shoots 100 percent from the field or from the line; everyone has a turnover now and then; every play commits a foul from time to time.

Why not just be happy when we play well and beat and good team?

I thought WV was as good this year on defense. If we had not had Gioya having a field day by driving whenever she wanted, we would have had difficulty scoring against their defense today. Last year, we did not have that. Gioya was not the player last year that has emerged the past two games, and we didn't have the player that could get to the middle and score. We thought we had her in Aaryn. But, Aaryn wasn't a good ball handler, and she lost the ball in traffic, and had difficulty shooting inside most of the time. Gioya is two or three inches taller, jumps better, and likes the ten to fifteen foot jump shot. I've been waiting since Candice Wiggins for someone that could hit that shot regularly. Then, I see two straight games when Peyton and Gioya, then Gioya, make that fifteen footer for the kill. Love it.
