Since we are almost in week 3 without a coach and a few moments to spare, we can start what if'n can't we?????

What if OU had kept Capel and with Osby, Goff, & a couple more recruits added to our current roster, how good do you think Capel's team would have been next year?

I'll say no worse than 5th in the Big12(10) and a NCAA appearance.

6th - 10th

I agree. People keep saying he had no good recruits, but juco PG Grooms was ready to commit as was a big juco center(forgot his name). If Osby is as good as advertised...we might not have been too bad.

Capel nearly destroyed our program. It would continue with him.

Three sure things in this world: Death, taxes and jerry's hatred for all things Capel. :ez-laugh:

Please don't start this. 6 weeks ago, there wasn't anybody that would have thought we'd finish in the top 5 next year, and certainly not "at worst." That is ridiculous.

We were probably looking at 7-10th next year, with an outside shot at the 5-6 spots.

And besides, that isn't the point. If Capel is wrong for OU, he is wrong, and he needs to be gone. What good would it do to bring Capel back, have him put up a decent enough season to get retained again, then fall off the crapper a couple of years later? Capel needed to go for A LOT of reasons. If that means we struggle with this hire, then so be it.

Cade and Osby are probably about the same level of player and Goff is just a little better than Thompson.

At best, we are 1 or 2 games better with last years conference schedule, however next year we play KU, Mizzou, ISU and KSU 2 times each so at best we would probably get to 7 conference wins (7-11), 15 wins overall.

Something like 15-16 or so, and 8th in the conference.

I for one Loved Capel and was a Capel Backer and wish he had gotten one more year, that did not happen. We need to move on, if we stand still long enough the grass will grow under our feet. Move on now.

We were going to be a NIT bubble team next year with Capel, We will be a nit bubble team without Capel. Hire is about longterm health

Have to agree with USAO. I think we would have been a better team next year but you also have to take into consideration that we are getting rid of Colorado and Nebraska (two winable games) and replacing those games with second games with KU, KSU, MU, & ISU.

While I think we would be a better team I don't think our record would have climbed a lot. I would guess we would finish 2-4 games above .500 overall and .500 AT BEST in conference.

As I said, I would rather have Capel than Weber, but we cannot go back. Good Luck to Capel and now lets spend some money.
