Who is still available?

Who could LK bring in to upgrade the roster some before signing day? I assume they will immediately jump on any kids they were talking to at UNLV...maybe not the committed kids but anyone else.

Ideas? Thoughts?

Jurick, wonder if he'd still be interested....doubt Guerrero would leave OSU for their rival...in the same state...the PG Grooms from Florida?? The 2 bigs still available from Kansas??

Here are some possibilities

Point Guards

Kyan Anderson, North Crowley in Fort Worth. Currently signed with Providence but with their coaching change it is possible he could be on the market. I haven't been able to find anything where he stand specifically with the coaching change.

Eli Carter, Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. More of a combo guard, but OU has been recruiting him.

Trey Davis, Woodrow Wilson in Dallas. I don't think OU has ever looked at him before but he put up impressive numbers during the high school season and was one of the best scorers in a loaded DFW area.

Jeremy Jones, Seward CC in Kansas (originally from Chicago) - score first PG who OU was after before Capel was fired. 3 years to play 2.

Sam Grooms, Chipola College in Florida (originally from North Carolina) - Considered one of the best PG recruits left in the nation as UNC and Duke both showed interest in him. Supposedly was close to committing before Capel was fired.

KC Ross Miller, New Orleans (can play immediately with 3 years of eligibility) - Originally committed to Kentucky like 4 years ago, signed with LSU, didnt qualify. Spent the fall semester at Florida International sitting out, then transferred to UNO for Spring. Averages at UNO 9.7 points, 44% FG, 50% 3 (10-20), 74% FT, 3.4 assists, 2.8 turnovers in 20.5 minutes. 13 games played.

Dantley Walker, Lincoln County in Panaca, NV - UNLV commit but not signed. Small school kid, all time leading scoring in Nevada high school according to ESPN. Averaged 36 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals this year while earning Parade All American honors. Career high is 73 points. Apparently is a member of the church of Later Day Saints so he might miss two years.

Devante Smith, Douglass in OKC - Complete Dark Horse and I doubt it would happen but since he's one of the best PG in the state why not throw his name out there. He is a distributor first, little small but is a competitor.

Posts
Phil Jurick, Chattanooga St in Tennessee - Already visited here, is said to be quiet on his recruitment. Will be interesting to see if Kruger is able to grab him.

Jarion Henry, Kimball, in Dallas - Son of Skeeter Henry, OU never really showed much interest. I expect him to end up back on the West Coast (moved from California to Dallas 2 years ago). Is a fiery emotional player and very skilled for his size at 6'8. More of a 3 than a 4, also skinny.

Luke Johnson, Wheaton Academy in Chicago - 6'9 UNLV recruit, unsigned. A quick google search didnt lead to much on him. School list per ESPN Evansville Aces, Wichita State Shockers, Loyola (IL) Ramblers, UNLV Rebels, Northern Illinois Huskies

Lekan Ajayi, Quality Education Prep in North Carolina - 6'10 raw prospect with big upside, OU had showed some interest in before. Seen ACC and Big East schools wanting him.

Eric Katenda, Sunrise Prep in Wichita - More of a combo forward at 6'8, recently cut his list to 3 schools so I have no idea if OU will or could get involved but he is regional.

Those are just some of the names I've seen mentioned before or regional guys I've been keeping an eye on for sleeper options.

Richardson? Raney?

Unless guys like Pledger and Clark leave I doubt if OU goes after either. There is not a big need for 2/3s on next year roster. Chances are OU can get by with what they have and get better players in the 2012 class.

Thanks for the list. I have been wondering if LK will try to contact any of those guys. I have been really curious about Grooms....my team plays his HS team twice a year....they are our biggest rival. Their coach played at UNC for Dean Smith....he was Michael Jordan's backup. They play very aggressive and physical. I came in the year after he left (and I actually think he transferred to a private/prep before going to Chippola) so I didn't get a chance to see him play so I don't know exactly how good of a player he is.

I agree about the lack of need; however, I think Richardson could still be a valuable piece. He has good length and can defend all three perimeter positions. One thing we are lacking up top (and down low, for that matter) is solid on-ball D. I see him as a poor-man's Cam.

I think Lekan Ajayi could be a diamond in the rough. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Crimson and Cream.

Wish List
Grooms or Walker
Jurick and Ajayi

Bigs, Bigs, Bigs!!!

Worry about a PG next year so we can get in on somebody good instead of settling on one again this year late in the signing period...

If OU can't get somebody or more who can rebound it doesn't matter who else comes in unless they can hit 75% of their shots. OU's offensive rebounding had to be one of the worst percentages in the country last year.

I haven't seen either of them play, but I wouldn't mind it if Kruger brought in either Raney or Richardson. Unless he feels like they can't cut it, at least it would show a re-commitment to recruiting the D-1 talent in the OKC area, instead of just waiting for them to go to KU or OSU, etc.

I wouldn't mind, either, if we didn't desperately need those scholarships for post players and point guards.
