What Was the Deal with C. Walker

Does that really sound like Sherri, or is it more likely that it is the story of someone who wants to feel important, like he has inside information? For me to believe him, I have to be shown something in Sherri's character that I have never seen before.

Not sure if that was directed at me. I have been a coach in the okc area for several decades. I hear things.
I would be ok if you put me on ignore.

I'm really ashamed of a lot you guys. I'm ashamed of the negative atmosphere that permeates this non-fan site. I said this once before, and I'll repeat it. We all came to this site to get away from another site that was controlled by the negative nellies. Now this site has become that site.

I'm outa here - going to go enjoy some basketball and root for my team win or lose for the rest of the season.

+1

I dare to hope that Sherri is taking the first step toward building the kind of program that UConn, etc enjoy. That takes a LONG (successful) time. We will probably need a second winning coach to really get moving but at least I think we've started.

Let me clarify precisely who I was referring to. You and Gwydion suggest that you were told a story by someone. I am stating that the person who made such an allegation needs to prove to me that Sherri has this trait in her character. It doesn't fit with the Sherri Coale who has never been inclined to reveal anything negative about a recruit, which is the character that we have all seen. The accusation made against Sherri is a rather negative statement against her character.

No one needs to prove anything to you. Why don't you gather up alittle proof before you disparage a posters character.

It baffles me why someone would be so upset to read comments they didn't appreciate that would cause them to leave.

First, if anything has been posted someone disagrees with, start a discussion of why you disagree. Secondly, people are free to start as many positive threads as you wish. Either of those would be preferable to, "I'm taking my marbles and going home", which just strikes me as being very immature.

I would say that the vast majority of fans here greatly admire what Sherri has done at OU. She has 3 final fours to her credit and NO ONE takes that lightly. That is a huge accomplishment! That still does not mean all of us has to agree with everything she does or says.

That reminds me of Bob Stoops. He has accomplished great things at OU but I don't know of anyone who agrees with every player he recruits or every play they run. I thought our play calling against Texas and Baylor stunk. I don't believe I was alone in my criticism. Of course, the game plan against OSU and Alabama could not have been better. If Bob starts out 2-2 in conference this fall I can promise you thousands of Sooner fans will be extremely upset and will voice their disappointment.

Sherri is 2-2 and many fans are not happy. Apparently, others think everything is wonderful and Sherri should not be challenged. However, that's not what a fan base is all about. When we win things are good and fans will be happy and when we are struggling fans are going to sound off. There is an old saying, "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." At this point in our program, we don't expect to lose to Marist, UCLA, Texas, or anyone in Norman. Today is a new day. Sooner fans will collectively be rooting for OU to beat W. Virginia. Win or lose, Sooner fans will be rooting for OU to beat ISU on Tuesday. But, for some of you to think all Sooner fans should take losing like it's nothing, I'm not sure which fantasy land you live in.

Hahahaha. This is a chat message board. We share conversation, info we might have and opinions.

My contact on this story is directly from two out of three that were involved. Family, local coaches or OU coaches. You can guess my two.

I'm not picking sides. As a matter of fact I wouldn't blame Coale.

I'm use to this particular poster attacking anything I post here. I have belong to this board from close to the beginning. But my participation has been spotty and minimum. Mainly because of the same person complaining about what I post. I'm use to it. Hahahahahaha

I would guess most poster who complained are just frustrated that the team seems to have lost a few steps. And fans want their team to be the best. I do think the incoming recruits is a great step in improving.

BTW I didn't hear the part about CW crying and mom taking over. Wouldn't surprise me. CW loved OU and Coale.

There is another factor here that I'm guessing played a part. And if it did I also don't blame Coale.

Forum rule #1 prohibits negative rumors about players. Does that extend to coaches? Is "someone told me," or "someone said," a rumor?

Hahahaha what ever . Put me on ignorePlease!

It gets worse. You will know you are in trouble when the self appointed members of the secret council start sending Private Messages to admonish you for getting out of line.

I dunno... is it really a negative that players that choose to take visits are not committed? I know the rumor involves crying, but still... I think I would cry if I was told I was no longer going to OU :(

I doubt this story. Let me say this before some wise guy says a poster doesn't care if I don't believe it. If you don't want to be believed, why post?

The claim is so unlike Sherri.

Here's a more likely scenario. When she committed, she was told the rules. Her family probably asked for an exception ( no coach can make exceptions if the rules are to have meaning.) Denied. They were disappointed, perhaps upset so they decided to move on.

If you know the rules and still commit, it's your fault if you take a visit and lose your scholly.

I don't think there are rules that say when you commit you can never contact another school. Nothing is binding until they sign. Some kids just like to visit and enjoy the experience. They only get to be recruited once so why not? If they decommit they probably weren't solid anyways.
And I suppose I could have used a name instead of "someone" but it was a friend whom I don't think he would want his name used here.

There was an article in the Oklahoman today about the OU football signees from yesterday. Stoops was talking about Courtney Garnett, a DT from New Orleans who committed to OU last week. He went ahead and visited Notre Dame this past weekend but signed with us anyway yesterday. Stoops said he decided to take a more softer approach instead of telling him to take it or leave it. Stoopsa said if you are going to bluff, you had better be ready to lose. If Coale had not been so hard headed in using the take it or leave it approach with Courtney Walker as some on this board said happened, we might have her now instead of A&M.

I am more in line with Sooner Cal.. I wonder it it wasn't more like I can't guarantee your scholarship if you are not 100 percent sure. I hope you decide to stay with us but if we get another commit, I will have to take it so as to not be left out in the cold.. We really want you but I can't promise to hold a scholly open just in case.

I wonder if we haven't had other commits say, I just want to go look and change their minds after looking. Then we are burned by not having signed someone in their place.

We have almost no information about this situation. It is, at best, conjecture.

Some of us have enough information on the subject to beleive it is not just conjecture.

I forgot that some on here do not want anyone to post anything that is not pro-Coale.
